Rimini, 12th March 2009 – From Wednesday 28th to Saturday 31st October 2009, Rimini Fiera will once again host the appointment with the successful group of exhibitions dedicated to environmental quality. Guided by ECOMONDO, international trade fair on material & energy recovery & sustainable development, now at its 13th edition, alongside there will be the 3rd KEY ENERGY International Expo on Energy and Sustainable Mobility, Climate and Resources for New Development, 5th Ri3 (Expo of Regeneration, Refill and Re-use of printing media, hardware and IT & telecom products) and the 2nd edition of COOPERAMBIENTE ((trade fair for the cooperative supply of energy and environment services, in collaboration with LegaCoop) In 2009 there will also be a great new feature: The first edition of ENERGYES, trade fair dedicated to systems and solutions for efficient use of energy.

In 2009 the group of exhibitions will occupy all sixteen halls at Rimini Fiera and work is under way on a program of didactic events, addressing the general public and held throughout the local area, after the excellent results achieved last year with Ecomondo in Town.

Simone Castelli, manager of the Rimini Fiera Business Unit that includes Ecomondo, explains, “Rimini Fiera has already become a virtuous appointment for all those who work in favour of environmental sustainability, making it the key to success. In fact, the expo offer ensures a complete top grade overview for all those involved in the so-called “green business”. Year after year, the expo showcase adds further specialized projects, and we can now say we have created a ‘Rimini environment System’, a place in which the fundamentally important objective of safeguarding resources finds concrete responses at all levels.”

To explain the consistence of what Rimini Fiera has to offer, it is sufficient to consider the figures on which it is based. Ecomondo project manager Alessandra Astolfi reminds, “In 2008, Ecomondo was attended by 64,858 visitors (12% more than 2007), 429 journalists were accredited and 1,000 companies occupied 70,000 square metres. In the very busy program of side events, a remarkable contribution was made by the scientific seminars organized by the committee chaired by Prof. Luciano Morselli: 250 scientific speeches (15% of an international nature), 700 speakers and over 100 institutions represented. There was important international participation, with the Green Ventures international cooperation forum attended by industry members from 23 nations all over the world.”

These numbers are destined to rise in 2009, when the layout of the various exhibitions, as was mentioned at the beginning, will occupy all sixteen halls at Rimini Fiera, featuring 1,500 companies in 110,000 m2.

For the next edition of Ecomondo, the sections traditionally featured will be confirmed, starting with the “expo core” regarding the complete waste cycle, from prevention through collection to treatment and re-use.

Reclaim Expo will be the rapidly expanding area dedicated to environmental reclamation and remediation; Oro Blu (Blue Gold) will host companies that are particularly active and technically advanced in the issues of water saving in industry and treatment of primary water and wastewater. There will be further expansion of the extremely prestigious technical work group, which will fine tune international level workshops; Inertech the only reference appointment for the sector of demolition and recycling in the building industry. In the spotlight, technologies and expertise in a sector in great need of dedicated initiatives; Metal-Eco will cover the world of ferrous and non-ferrous metal; Sustainable Towns will host in a large expo area the companies that in the avant-garde on issues of sustainable design, products, material, technologies and services aimed at protecting the landscape, energy and water saving, CO2 reduction, and better quality in man’s lifestyle. A series of the best European and international projects representing virtuous examples for administrators, designers and companies.

Many areas will also showcase finished products, with a focus on eco-design. In particular, the traditional Ecofatto exhibition and the new Eco Buy area, dedicated to “green purchases and procurement”. At the expo, increasing space will be dedicated to the world of WEEE (waste electrical and electronic equipment).

Risks and Safety will be the section dedicated to systems for the prevention of environmental disasters and policies aimed at improving the quality of citizens’ and workers’ health.

Ecomondo represents the in-depth virtuous route to innovation taken by the green economy. Rimini hosts the key players, from companies to institutions: all playing a primary role in a winning vision under the banner of ethics and responsibility.

It is also worth remembering that Ecomondo can be reached directly by train, thanks to the railway station (on the Milan – Bari line) just fifty metres from the expo’s south entrance. During the expo, sixteen trains will stop at Rimini Fiera every day. Timetable info: www.riminifiera.it/stazione or www.trenitalia.com )
