Main Purpose

Reporting to the Lead Talent Coach you will be responsible for planning and deliveryof the regional talent squad programme. This will include the planning and coaching of monthly sessions based on talent curriculum, the supporting of talented athletes to ensure their development and the appropriate administration of the coaching programme.

The Regional Training Lead Coach will be a key member of the GBWR staff team and is expected to act corporately working within GBWR policies and guidelines to support the National Governing Body to deliver its objectives.

  1. Main Responsibilities

1.1.Deliver exceptional high level monthly coaching sessions.

1.2.Fully plan all sessions based on attendance and experience of players.

1.3.Follow and help contribute to the Talent Development regional training curriculum.

1.4.Create fun, engaging and challenging sessions for all abilities.

1.5.Help source, recognise and recruit talented players in your region following GBWR guidelines.

1.6.Liaise with player’s club coaches and Talent Development Lead coach.

1.7.Liaise with other regional talent coaches.

1.8.Provide appropriate support to talent athletesaway from coaching environment.

1.9.Keep up to date attendance records and undertake necessary administrative duties.

1.10.Be the first point of contact for RTC player’s

2.1.Represent GBWR at designated meetings and events.

2.2.Support the Membership and Corporate Secretary in the effective collection and maintenance of accurate data and information.

2.3. Support in the implementation of appropriate communication systems, including online visibility.

2.4. Contribute to the delivery of GBWR Business Plan and the achievement of annual objectives.

Person Specification

Qualification /
  • Level 2 GBWR coaching qualification or willing to work towards for completion by end of December 2017.
  • Must be educated to a minimum of ‘GCSE’ standard.

  • Demonstrable CPD in coaching practice

Proven Experience /
  • Experience in coaching talented athletes.
  • Experience in undertaking administrative duties.
  • Experience in preparing accurate reports.
  • Experience of working within a charitable organisation.

  • Experience of working in wheelchair rugby.
  • Coaching experience within a disability sport.
  • Experience of acting as Head Club Coach within wheelchair rugby

Skills & Abilities /
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Good self-management of time and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and think creatively.
  • Proficient in IT and MS Office programmes particularly Excel & Powerpoint.
