Towards partners coalition for biodiversity conservation, sustainable management of forest landscape and combating climate change

Call for papers

The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Programme in central and West Africa is pleased to announce the organization of a regional forum on environment under the theme«Towards partners coalition for biodiversity conservation, sustainable management of forest landscape and combating climate change »

The Forum will be held in Brazzaville (Republic of Congo) from 5to 8July 2011. The forum is interested to scientists, decision makers and development actors working on renewable natural resources.

The forum will cover the relationship between sustainable development, climate change and issues related to the environment. In this respect, it will discuss issues related to sustainable forest management, ecosystems and biodiversity conservation, fishery, agriculture and food security, water resources management, and issues raised by oil and mining exploitation.

The Forum will include scientific workshops dealing with Central and WestAfrica countries’ efforts in the areas of biodiversity conservation, climate change adaptation and mitigation, natural and renewable energy, livelihood and food security, green economy, in relationship with poverty alleviation.

The scientific workshop will be held from 5to6 July 2011, with special sessions on following areas:

–Forest ecosystems ;

–Wetlands ecosystems;

–Agro-ecosystems;

–Marine and coastal ecosystems;

In each of the above area, papers could be related to policy, governance, socioeconomic aspects, management and prevention of climate hazards.

Papers for oral presentation or poster during the forum can be submitted by interested authors from 1rstApril 2011and will be selected by the Forum scientific committee. Electronic versions must be sent to Jacques Somda (), no later thanthe 30 aril 2011. The acceptance of the papers will be notified to authors no later than the 15 Mai 2011. The authors of the accepted papers should submit the final version by the 31 Mai 2011. The scientific committee can accept or reject papers that do not contribute to the themes identified. In addition, the authors of the accepted papers might not be automatically sponsored by the organizers.

The papers should be written in the following order:

Title (should be short and concise)

Authorship information (Full names, full institutional mailing addresses, corresponding addresses)

Abstract (The manuscript should contain an abstract. The abstract should be self-contained and citation-free and should not exceed 150 words)

Introduction (This section should be succinct, with no subheadings)

Methodology

Results

Discussions

Conclusions

Acknowledgment (All acknowledgments (if any) should be included at the very end of the paper before the references and may include supporting grants, presentations, and so forth.)
