Refrigerated Foods Association Offers Unique International Tour

for Members This Fall

Food Manufacturers of North America and Their Suppliers Prepare for Guided Australian Tour of Food Manufacturers and Retailers from Melbourne to Sydney

Atlanta, GA

June 1,2017

For over 18 years, NPD Direct and the Refrigerated Foods Association have worked together to offer International Tours for Association members interested in gaining insights into the UK, European and Australasian food industries. As one of the most advanced producers of chilled and frozen foods across Australasia, Australia was selected as the site for the 2017 International Tour, which will take place October 9-13, 2017. The tour will begin in Melbourne and end in Sydney. It will include visits to retail stores, delicatessens, markets, restaurants and supply chain operations, and the tour will include ample networking opportunities for the members as well as tour hosts.

Manufacturing plants included on the tour include Jewel Fine Foods, producer of ready-to-eat curries, sauces, marinades and meals; Kitchen Food Company, where sustainability and recycling are paramount; Primo, Australia’s largest manufacturer of deli meats; One Harvest, the leader in fresh produce; Wicked Sister Desserts, producer of fresh or frozen desserts; and Da Vinci, maker of fresh pasta from top quality ingredients. Retail stores included on the tour are Cole’s, which operates 776 supermarkets throughout Australia, and Woolworths, the other leading supermarket/grocery chain in Australia. Cole’s and Woolworths form a near duopoly of Australian markets, together accounting for about 80% of the Australian market.

The International Tour is a benefit of membership in the Refrigerated Foods Association, providing members with a one-of-a-kind, behind-the-scenes international experience specifically designed for the chilled foods industry. Participants from past tours have found the trip to be invaluable. RFA President Steve Loehndorf of Reser’s Fine Foods states, “The RFA’s International Tours have provided me with insights and knowledge from other parts of the world that I have brought back to my business and that have helped us increase efficiency, safety and quality in our plants and products. The networking made possible through the RFA is always priceless, but I have never found that more true than on an International Tour.” In addition to the plant tours, a special sightseeing tour is scheduled for accompanying partners, including visits to Sydney Opera House, Harbour Bridge and much more.

The tour is open to all Refrigerated Foods Association members. For more information, visit the RFA website at or call the Association Headquarters at 678-426-8175.
