RNRMCA TIME TRIAL (RNRMCA TT) CHAMPIONSHIPS 20-21 MAY 2017

1.Introduction. The Royal Navy Royal Marines Cycling Association Time Trial (RNRMCA TT) Championships will be held over the weekend of 20-21 May 2017 and will take place in Yeovilton. It will consist of two individual Time Trials.

  1. Individual 10 mile TT – U30/10, 1800hrs 20 May 2017
  2. Individual 25 mile TT – U30/25, 0700hrs 21 May 2017

2.Aim. The aim of this memo is to provide administrative details for the event.

3.Event Overview. The event will run from 1700hrs on 20th May when sign on will open and will end upon completion of the prize giving, approx. 1200hrs on 21st May. The organisers have decided to combine the Northover Vets event with the RNRMCA championships and the ISTT. In the event of over subscription preference will be given in the following order, current serving or reserve personnel, individual service cycling association members, non-service affiliated civilians.

The Nuffield Sports Pavilion will be the event HQ for the duration, located just off the B3151 opposite the Fleet Air Arm Museum. The post code is BA22 8HW. The start point for both events is within 2 miles from sign on.

4.Registration and Sign On. Registration can be completed either online at the links above or by post via a CTT entry form. All postal entries are to be sent to

All competitors are required to sign onin the HQprior to the event. Competitors are to ensure that they allow enough time between signing on and getting to the start of the course, this is roughly 10 minutes from the HQ.

IAW CTT rules all competitors must also sign out in the HQ upon completion of their ride, failure to do so will result in a DNF being recorded for that competitor.

Start sheets will be posted on the event page within the CTT website prior to the event taking place.

5.Programme. The format for the weekend will be:

18-2000 – 10 Mile TT

07-1030 – 25 Mile TT

7.Prizes. Prize giving will take place upon completion of races iaw with the timings in para 5.

Prizes will be awarded in the following categories for each individual race.

8.Duty Status and Conduct. All current serving and reserve personnel are classified as being on duty whilst undertaking any activity in relation to the participation or organisation of this event, including travelling to and from the event location. As such all personnel are to ensure that they behave in a manner as befits the occasion. As public highways are used to host the event, the Highway Code is to be adhered to at all times. Any rider found to have breached these rules will be disqualified.

9.Accommodation. Due to accommodation block re-structuring at RNAS Yeovilton service accommodation is at a premium for the duration of the event. Some service accommodation may be available, on a first come first served basis, and can be booked by contacting RNAS Yeovilton on the following numbers

10.Parking. There will be ample parking available within the pavilion grounds, all participants are requested to use this parking and not to park in the vicinity of the start.

11.Travel and Subsistence. T&S is available for the RNRMCA TT subject to individual unit budget holders approval and iaw the regulations found in JSP 752 Part 2 04.02. Any queries should be directed to individualUPO’s or in extremis relevant service sports representatives.

12.Medical. In the event of an accident marshals along the courses will assist where possible or will contact the emergency services if required. Basic first aid will be available within the race HQ.

13.Risk Assessments. Risk assessments will be carried out in advance of the races and dynamically assessed and altered as the conditions dictate.

14.Refreshments. There will be the opportunity to partake in refreshing beverages and cake upon completion of the races, these will be supplied free of charge and a donation to the RNRMCharity would be appreciated.

CTT Notes

  1. An approved hard-shell helmet must be worn for the ISTT
  1. A working, active, rear light must be fitted, and clearly visible, on your machine whilst in use for the ISTT.
  1. The course used for this event is on a main road, A303. Overtaking traffic will be moving fast. For your own safety, keep well to the left.
  1. There will be time when you join an ‘A’ road from a ‘B’ road. The traffic has the right of way. Be aware of this when joining the main road.
  1. Observe the Highway Code at all times. Competitors found to have disregarded this will be disqualified.
  1. Ride with your head up and avoid “white lining.”
  1. Drafting-Paced Riding: CTT regulation No 21 must be applied at all times. Any rider seen taking pace from another competitor will be disqualified. Overtaken riders are to fall back to a distance of 50 yards.
