THE NUTCRACKER PARTICIPATION
AGREEMENT 2014
Participation in The Nutcracker is not mandatory, but a choice. This will be a low-key, family friendly event for students of all levels (ages 3 and up) and class styles. Please take the time to consider the Costs and Requirements of The Nutcracker. You must be available for both performances.
Casting:
There is a part for everyone, even those dancers who do not take ballet. We will have tap, jazz, and Hip Hop style numbers included in our show.
IMPORTANT DATES
Rehearsal Begin at Stage Door – Saturday, September 13th(Mirliton/Doll, Snow/Flower, Arabian, Pine Forest, Specialty Numbers) Saturday, September 20th(Bon Bons, Chinese Tea, Lollipops, Angels Mice, Children’s Dance, Clowns, Candy Canes, Russian, Soldiers, Frozen)
Mandatory Run Thru at Stage Door(entire cast) - Saturday, November 1st, 1:00pmMandatory Costume Rehearsal at Stage Door(entire cast) - Saturday, November 8th and 15th,1:00pm –Dancers come in costume.
Mandatory Costume Rehearsal at The Carlsbad Cultural Arts Center - Saturday, November 22nd, 10:00am - All dancers arrive in costume with hair & make-up done (Young dancers costume only)
*If your child is not at the dress rehearsal, he/she will not be able to perform in the shows. Please keep this date on your calendars
Performance at The Carlsbad Cultural Arts Center - Saturday, November 22nd3:00pm – All dancers arrive in costume with hair & make-up done.
Performance at The Carlsbad Cultural Arts Center - Sunday, November 23rd, 2:00pm – All dancers arrive in costume with hair & make-up done
Rehearsals:
Rehearsals will start Saturday, September 13th for Core dancers and Saturday, September 20thfor all others. They will be held every Saturday.*See rehearsal schedule for details.
Attendance Policy:
Students are not allowed to miss more than one Nutcracker rehearsal (a second miss will be taken on a case by case basis). After a third miss, for any reason, the student will be taken out of the show. (Absolutely NO EXCEPTIONS) Sorry, but these rehearsals cannot be made-up. If a rehearsal is missed, it is the responsibility of the dancer to contact a fellow dancer to learn what they missed before the next rehearsal.
Costumes:
Each dance will have a costume. If you are cast in more than one dance then you will have more than one costume. The costumes run between $65-$100.We will be measuring students for costumes during our casting call. You will be responsible for any alterations. Students will need to supply their own tights and proper shoes (details to follow).
* Core dancers will have the opportunity to pass down costumes.
Fees and Tickets:
There is a $40 Nutcracker participation fee that helps to cover The Nutcracker production costs. (i.e. theater rental, teachers, sets, props, and programs),Included in this fee will be two tickets for the show of your choice.
ALL REHEARSAL, COSTUME, and PARTICIPATION FEE ARE NON-REFUNDABLE
General Seating Ticket Sales start at Stage Door Oct 1st - $18 adults, $12 students and children over 3 years old, children under 3 are free. Group rates are available for seniors, Girl Scout troops, etc.
Pictures and DVD:
Pictures of the performancewill be taken by a professional Performing Arts Photographer. Pictures will be available to order from their website.
DVDs will also be available to order. Order forms will be available later.
PTA (Parents Technical Assistant):
We will need parent assistants to help run the show. Your participation will be essential. We will post volunteer signup sheets closer to the show.
Security- Backstage/dressing rooms:
Due to the length of the show, dancers may be checked in before the show or at intermission. We will also check students out during intermission if finished with their performance. Students will be secured backstage and not permitted to exit until intermission or after the final curtain. NO EXCEPTIONS. Students will be required to be signed in and out by parent or a designate. Child safety must be placed before convenience. Please allow extra time in your scheduling.
If this security factor is not acceptable to you, please do not sign up for The Nutcracker.
Information will be posted at the studio, online at our website, and will be given to each participant.
