RE. NATIONAL URBAN WASTE WATER STUDY

I am to refer to Circular L6/2003 (WSP) dated 14th April 2003 regarding a review of Draft Catchment Reports for the National Urban Waste Water Study.

The consultant engineers on this project EG Pettit and Company, Barry and Partners, White Young Green Ireland Ltd and Babtie Group Ltd have, concluded the data collection and assessment process and prepared Draft Catchment Reports for your detailed consideration. The draft reports for your administrative area are enclosed.

Local authority consideration, comment and observations are critical to the integrity of the data sets and the findings and recommendations of the county and city reports and the national report.

You are advised that:

  • Your authority has a four-week period from the above date to consider the enclosed reports and to make comment and observations.
  • The Draft Catchment Reports MUST be returned to the Department with your comments and observations.
  • Any material provided after the end of the four-week period may not given the time constraints for publication etc. be incorporated into the final version of the report.

The following should be noted:

  1. Contact details for the consulting engineers is attached where further information, clarification or assistance is required in respect of the Draft Catchment Reports. See Appendix 1.
  1. The Departments Inspectors are also available to assist this process as required
  1. Where there is an unavoidable delay in providing your response within the four week deadline the Department should be contacted to agree a new delivery date; you are advised that there is very little scope in this regard. The Departments contact person is Ms. Brid Conway, Water Services Policy Unit, Phone 8882162, e-mail .
  1. The draft reports along with your comment and observation should be returned to the Departments Inspectors for consideration. Your response should accompany the draft reports and be transmitted via Ms. Brid Conway, Water Services Policy Unit, Block 1, Floor 2, Irish Life Centre, Dublin 2.

This is a final opportunity for your authority to consider and comment on the information in the enclosed draft reports. You are reminded that the National Urban Waste Water Study is central to the strategic development of urban waste water services and to achieving current and future national standards and the requirements of EU Directives. The deliverables will be used as the basis for decision making both locally and nationally and make a significant contribution to determining future investment priorities.
