Assistant to the CEO/Fundraising Officer

Salary: £20,302 per annum

Job Description

This is a varied and exciting role that involves fundraising research, preparation of grant bids and supporting the CEO in various aspects of governance, events and external relations. You will also play a key role in supporting the CEO and Business Development team with the scoping and development of new business projects and fundraising opportunities, as well as helping to ensure a consistent approach to the development, negotiation and implementation of new programmes and projects across the organisation.

Fundraising

  • Identifying and researching prospective funders, gathering information on specific criteria for applications
  • Undertaking research to inform fundraising applications, ensuring our high track record of success
  • Assisting in the service design and development of new programmes
  • To be the point of contact for centrally logging & collating all new business development opportunities, ensuring this record is kept up-to-date as a live status record
  • To co-ordinate the fortnightly cross organisational Business Development meetings including tabling items, collating papers and taking minutes
  • Carrying out research around prospective partnership opportunities, and make recommendations to the Business Development team/CEO
  • Coordinating input from key team members
  • Drafting grant applications and tender bids

Support to the CEO

  • Provide administrative support for all aspects of governance, including minute-taking at Senior Management Team meetings and Finance Committee meetings
  • Support the directorate to achieve operational and strategic goals through organising meetings and events and conducting research
  • Proof read, copy edit and publish leadership literature and website content
  • Accompany CEO and Business Development team to external meetings e.g. with statutory funders or potential new partners

Key competencies required for the role

Qualifications

  • University graduate with at least a 2.1 honours degree in a relevant subject

Experience

  • Demonstrable experience of research, including report writing and communications to a variety of audiences
  • Experience of working independently on own initiative, demonstrating flexibility to adapt to different situations and challenges
  • Demonstrable experience of consistently producing high quality work across multiple projects to tight deadlines
  • Experience in MS Office including Word, Power Point, Excel, Outlook

Skills and Abilities

  • Administrative skills including minute taking, organising events and meetings
  • Ability to develop funding proposals to trusts, including good research skills and the ability to find and present relevant information
  • Ability to prioritise a varied workload and work accurately under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills – the ability to communicate effectively and positively with a wide range of people at all levels, including trustees, colleagues, visitors and service users
  • High standard of written English and an ability to produce concise and persuasive prose
  • Fast learner - ability to quickly gain understanding of various topics
  • Proactive – use initiative to explore and identify new fundraising opportunities for the organisation
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently
  • Flexible approach to duties and willingness to get involved with new projects and accept new tasks

Hours / Full time 37.5 hours a week or pro rata if part time. Office hours are 9am-5.30pm, Mon to Fri.
Occasional attendance at evening meetings and events required, with time off in lieu.
Annual Leave / 26 days a year plus public holidays. The office closes over Christmas / New Year and staff have to use annual leave to cover this time.
Location / Hackney, East London with excellent transport links.
