RE: Molecular Devices Compliance with the Buy America Act and Corporate Social Responsibility

Dear Dr. Valued Customer:

Thank you for considering Molecular Devices, now part of MDS Analytical Technologies, as your preferred partner for innovative life science research and drug discovery instruments, reagents and consumables.

MDS Analytical Technologies proudly maintains facilities in Sunnyvale, California and Downingtown, Pennsylvania, among others, and is a wholly owned subsidiary of MDS Inc, headquartered in Toronto, Canada. Our roots in the United States are deep. More than 20 years ago, we began offering our top-quality Microplate Readers to American researchers. Today, the Molecular Devices division employs nearly 500 people in the United States. Our employees work in over 15 states from Massachusetts to California. Our sales representatives, field service engineers and field applications scientists live and work throughout the U.S. We have close partnerships with numerous U.S. firms from material/OEM component suppliers to ad agencies, significantly raising the number of U.S. jobs that directly depend on Molecular Devices.

Importantly, our extensive portfolio of Life Science and Drug Discovery instruments, reagents and consumables comply with the “Buy America Act” for U.S. governmental purchases. The Buy American Act (BAA - 41 U.S.C.§10a–10d) requires the United States government to prefer U.S. or safe harbor country made products in its purchases.

In addition, MDS, Inc has a profound commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility. The fundamental objective of our Corporate Citizenship Program at MDS is to make a distinctive contribution to the health and well-being of people around the world. We do this by supporting initiatives – both financially and through direct involvement of employee volunteers who donate their time both nationally and locally. In late 2007, MDS decided to designate cancer as its Major Corporate Charity, and pledged almost $1 million to the Geneva-based charity, International Union Against Cancer (UICC). UICC was chosen because, as the world's largest non-governmental association of cancer-fighting organizations, it has a global mission to eradicate cancer. MDS Analytical Technologies recentlyheld its fourth annual Walk Across MDS Analytical Technologies, in which teams of employees wore pedometers and tracked the distances they covered for four weeks. In 2008, the top three teams won $2,500 each for their designated cancer charity.

Moreover, MDS is committed to the continuous improvement of its health and safety performance, and the implementation of sound environmental practices. In September 2008, MDS Inc. was added to the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World Index). The DJSI World Index recognizes companies that exhibit high levels of competence in addressing global and industry challenges in a variety of areas, such as economic, social and environmental performance.MDS joins 320 global sustainability leaders in 57 industries on the DJSI World Index, which includes a number of the world's most respected companies.

All in all, MDS Analytical Technologies is proud of our contributions to, and participation in, the U.S. economy. We are deeply committed to helping the U.S. economy make a complete recovery. We celebrate the spirit and commitment to honesty, innovation and excellence that makes this country great.. With over 100,000 products in operation in laboratories around the world, we look forward to working with you.

Regards,

Greg M. Milosevich
