General Statement of Job

Develops and executes aggressive public relations and marketing programs to the communities in Hidalgo and Starr counties. Leads the planning, creation and implementation of South Texas College's marketing, external communications and brand management goals, policies and initiatives. Oversees the operations of the colleges marketing, public relations, special events, web content and creative services.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

1.  Develops and implements methods for communicating with the College's various audiences, especially prospective students, visitors, peer institutions, and the local community.

2.  Provides leadership in efforts aimed at increasing visibility of the College in local communities of Hidalgo and Starr counties.

3.  Generates positive public perceptions of the College.

4.  Administers publication services and activities including supervision over the production of official college publications.

5.  Administers news and information queries, including media relations.

6.  Administers coordination of special events at the College.

7.  Coordinates and oversees advertising to promote the College and its schedules and programs.

8.  Administers the departmental budget development and fiscal management.

9.  Supervises the Public Relations and Marketing staff.

10.  Develops marketing and communication plan for the college annually.

11.  Develops, coordinates, implements and evaluates overall marketing objectives to promote community awareness and positive public perceptions of the College.

12.  Leads and manages a creative team of marketing, public relations, multimedia, publications and web professionals in the development and execution of a comprehensive, integrated communications and marketing program.

13.  Works closely with site coordinators, administrators, faculty, staff, and students to ensure messages are integrated across the College district.

14.  Coordinates registration and enrollment campaigns in cooperation with the College's Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management.

15.  Administers news and information queries, including media relations, with the support of PR Coordinator and staff

Required Education and Experience

1.  Master's Bachelor's degree Degree in related field preferredrequired. Master’s Degree preferred.

2.  Minimum of fourAt least five (5) years of experience in marketing Marketing and/or public Public relationsRelations; .

3.  previous Prior community Community college College or educational Educational experience highly desirable.preferred

6.  Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

7.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

8.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of students, managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

9.  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

10.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
