Between October 16th and 22nd, 107 community-governed primary healthcare organizations across Ontario will be taking part in Community Health and Wellbeing Week: Health Equity at the Centre.

The annual celebration is coordinated by the Association of Ontario Health Centres (AOHC). AOHC represents a vibrant network of Ontario’s Community Health Centres, Aboriginal Health Access Centres, Community Family Health Teams and Nurse Practitioner-Led Clinics serving diverse communities across the province. AOHC members share commitment to advancing health equity and work together to confront social, economic or environmental barriers that create disadvantage and put 3.5 million people at risk of poor health.

Community Health and Wellbeing Week events across the province are designed to reframe the conversation about the health system in Ontario. This year’s theme –Health Equity at the Centre –will emphasize the need to put health equity at the centre of decision- and policy-making in the province. The Week will also focus on the many ways AOHC members lead the way advancing health equity at their centres and in their communities.
