Format:This event is a closed event with qualification granted through competing in events held in England & Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Please note that the Scottish qualifiers will be known following the end of the currently qualification competition and individuals will be informed directly. The Northern Ireland qualifiers will also be informed directly.

Tee Times:Tuesday 13 April (1 round)11:00 – 15:00

Wednesday 14 April (2 rounds)07:30 – 09:30(two tee start) and 13:00 – 15:00(two tee start)

Thursday 15 April (1 round)07:30 – 11:30

Groups to be redrawn after days1 & 2

Arrival:All competitors should arrive at the tee 10 minutes prior to their tee off time.

Scorecards:To be collected from the clubhouse prior to teeing off. ALL scorecards MUST be returned to the registration table within 10 minutes of completing each round.

Practice Rounds:It is the responsibility of individual institutions to book practice rounds for the Monday, which are available from 2:00pm.Rounds can be booked through the club on 01294 314 000. Please ensure that you say that you are taking part in the BUCS Individual Strokeplay Finals.

Accommodation:BUCS is working in partnership with JEM to assist your competitors in finding affordable and convenient accommodation for BUCS Events.

BUCS INDIVIDUAL STROKEPLAY FINAL

General Information

The Final will consist of the following events:

  • Individual Strokeplay Championships
  • Men’s Team Strokeplay Championships

BUCS Individual Strokeplay Final

Each player will complete 18 holes on day 1, 36 holes on day 2 and 18 holes on day 3 of the Championship. The male with the lowest aggregate score over the 72-hole event will be awarded the Individual Strokeplay Final.

Using the results of the individual performances during the BUCS Individual Strokeplay Final, a Team Strokeplay Championship shall also be offered. The Team will consist of four members with the results of three players counting on each of the three days. Entry into the team competition will only be permitted if the institution has three players in the final.

Institutions must state their team on the entry form. Once the tournament has started no further changes will be permitted.

Strokeplay Final Rules and Format

  1. The Championship shall be governed in accordance with BUCS Regulations and the Rules of Golf as approved by R&A Rules Ltd and with local rules as approved by the Championship Committee.
  2. No player shall be eligible to take part in the BUCS Individual Strokeplay Final unless they have qualified through regional qualifying in England & Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland or are exempt from qualification.
  3. The following number of competitors qualify from each region
  • England & Wales -26 Men
  • Scotland - 19 Men
  • Northern Ireland -5 Men
  1. The following male players will be exempt from regional qualifying:
  • Players holding a top 20 position in their national Order of Merit for the 2009 season.
  • Students gaining full international representative honours.
  • 4 GMG wildcard picks.
BUCS Men’s Individual Strokeplay Champion from previous year (if still a student).
  1. If there are less than 5 male players achieving top 20 or international honours additional qualifiers will be selected from the regions to bring the total number to 60 male players. One player will be selected at a time from Scotland, England & Wales and Northern Ireland in that order until 60 male players have been selected.
  2. The Final shall be decided over four 18-hole medal rounds.
  3. The BUCS Individual Strokeplay Final winner shall be the player returning the lowest aggregate score for the four 18 hole medal rounds.
  4. The Men’s winner will become the BUCS Men’s Individual Strokeplay Champion and will receive the Wollaton Park Cup for one year. This trophy shall be returned in time for the following Championships.
  5. This is a Scratch (gross score) event.
  6. The Championship Committee reserves the right to amend the Championship conditions.

Limitation of Entry

The Championship Committee reserves the right to limit the number of entries.

All competitors should attach a photocopy of a handicap certificate or letter from a Golf Club stating handicap with the entry form. Failure to do this will mean the individual will not be considered for the competition.
