How to Build a Schedule

  1. Don’t forget about your commitments outside of school (i.e. work, family obligations). Be sure to schedule around them.
  1. Include required developmental courses in your schedule.
  2. If you have not passed all sections of TSI, you need to select your preferred days and times and include them in the schedule you create.
  1. This is how you should prioritize your courses:
  2. Take math every semester until your degree requirements are met.
  3. Take English every semester until RWS 1301 and 1302 are completed (or equivalent ESOL courses are completed).
  4. Take classes from the Core Curriculum until you complete core requirements.
  5. If you need additional courses, finish your schedule by adding courses that count toward your major and/or minor.
  6. DO NOT register for any courses for which you think you should have Dual Credit, AP or IB credit, or transfer credit. If you have not had your test scores and transcripts sent to UTEP, do so as soon as possible.
  1. To figure out which classes you needto take, review your degree plan on our website at utep.edu/advisingby following the Degree Plan/Schedule Building link.Make a list of classes you are interested in taking next semester.
  1. You can access the schedule through the Registration tab in Goldmine as of March 13th.
  2. Find the classes you want to take in the Summer/Fall 2017 schedule of courses.—click “Look Up Classes to Add.”Be sure to select the correct term.
  1. In the table on the other side of this sheet, write down the details for each class you want to take, including the Course Reference Number (CRN) for the section you want.
  1. You are required to bring your proposed schedule (with additional course options in case your first choice doesn’t work out) to your priority registration appointment. You will not be advised without this completed information.
