NOTICE OF RACE

INTRODUCION

In view of the Half Ton Classics Cup 2011, practice races will be organised by the Half Ton Class Europe. The series will take place on three Saturdays in Nieuwpoort, and participation to the last day of the GPICO in Dunkerque is encouraged. The final result will, after the usual discards, take the four days into account.

1  RULES

1.1  The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.

1.2  IRC, national and local KYCN rules, including the H’ Cup rules when relevant, will apply.

2  ADVERTISING

Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing authority.

3  ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

The regatta series is open to boats with a valid IRC measurement certificate that could once have competed under the IOR “Half Ton Class” (see Classic Half Ton Association rules).

4  FEES

Entry fee is 20€ per day or 50€ for the whole series, including the entry fee for the H’Cup.

This fee only applies for the races in Nieuwpoort. SCHEDULE

4.1  Registration: on each racing day from 08h30 to 09h30

4.2  Number of races: 3 races daily, weather permitting

4.3  The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race each day is 10h55.

5  MEASUREMENTS

Each boat shall produce a valid IRC rating certificate.

6  SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

The sailing instructions will be available at the registration desk or prior the event as soon as possible on the HTC website www.halftonclass-europe.net

7  THE COURSES

The courses to be sailed on each racing day will, weather conditions allowing, be as follows: 2 windward-leeward races followed by a short inshore (around the cans) course, locally known as the ”H’Cup”.

8  PARTICIPATION TO THE GPICO

8.1  Participants of the races organised in Nieuwpoort on the above mentioned dates are strongly encouraged to participate to the windward-leeward races to be organised on Monday 18 June off Dunkerque (last day of the Grand Prix de la Côte d’Opale).

8.2  The GPICO NOR and SI will be the only ones to apply for the races on 18th June.

8.3  The fee mentioned under §4 does not include the entry fee to the GPICO.

1O SCORING

10.1 The Low Point System of Appendix A will apply.

10.2 Final results will take the races in Nieuwpoort and Dunkerque into account.

10.3 The results of the H’Cups will be based on the IRC ratings.

10.4 (a)When fewer than 4 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores.(b)When from 4 to 6 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.(c)When 7 or more races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her two worst scores.

(d) When 9 or more races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her three worst scores.

11 RADIO COMMUNICATION

Except in an emergency, a boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones.

12 PRIZES

Prizes or souvenirs will be awarded to participants.

13 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY

Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4 of the ISAF Sailing Rules, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.

14 INSURANCE

Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of 5.000.000,00 per event or the equivalent.
