Mar.21vs.Golden State Warriors - Sam Mitchell andSteve KerrPregame Quotes

Timberwolves Interim Head Coach Sam Mitchell
On playing against the Warriors…
“I don’t think that we’re trying to measure ourselves. We’re just going to play a basketball game against a good team. You have to be careful about measuring yourself. You’re not going to measure yourself against one team in one game, there are 82 games in a season. You measure yourself over the course of the season, make sure your guys get better, that you play up to your talent level and that you win as many games as your talent levels says you can.”

On what’s most impressive about the Warriors’ record…
“How difficult it is to win, the fact that they’re doing it at the clip that they’re doing it against some good teams out there. It’s hard to win each and every night with the schedule, the travel, the grind of the NBA season. They’re a very good team, they’re the best team, they’re the champs. Their record speaks for itself.”

On their recent offensive success…
“I just think we’re passing the ball to each other. On the nights where we set good screens, hold screens, wait for screens, and use screens. I still think there’s room for improvement, there’s a lot of things we still don’t do as well as I would like offensively but we’re getting better, we’re playing with pace, playing with space, playing with flow, getting up and down the court better, and taking better shots, that’s why I think we’re starting to shoot the ball better.”

Warriors Head Coach Steve Kerr
On Karl-Anthony Towns…
“Future star. He’s incredibly skilled and big and from everything I gather he’s a hardworking good teammate so he’s the real deal.”

On games after a loss…
“Well we’ve won every single time we’ve lost, every time we’ve lost we’ve won the next time out, so it’s a pretty good sign. Now we’re in that situation again with a tough loss the other night, and we have to have a good effort tonight, we know this is a potent young team that’s going to really give us a test tonight because this will be one of the biggest games for them all year. They know they’re not going to the playoffs, but a win over us would be a pretty big deal, so we expect their best.”

On why they play so well after a loss…
“We take that personally. We take losses hard. Our guys are really competitive and they’re obviously really good, so it’s a good combination, when you have some talent and a lot of competitive desire, usually results in a good response to a loss. Like I said, hopefully that will be the case again.”
