POSITION DESCRIPTION
PART-TIME MIDDLE SCHOOL STAFF ASSISTANT
NON-EXEMPT
LEVEL 2: 21 HOURS PER/WEEK
I.MAJOR PURPOSE
To assist the Coordinator of Middle School Ministries in establishing and implementing ministries to youth in accordance with the mission and purpose of RBCPC.
II.SCOPE
Assist in furthering the ministry to students grades 6-8 in the church and surrounding community with the good news of Jesus Christ by offering outreach programs, spiritual growth opportunities, small group discipleship, relational ministry and mission opportunities.
III.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
A.Exemplify in word and action a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and demonstrate a witness to God’s love as an outgrowth of a personal walk with Christ.
- Possess and demonstrate a wholehearted commitment to youth ministry.
- Assist the Coordinator of Middle School ministry in the planning and implementing of youth programs, meetings, activities, and camps.
- Provide spiritual nurture to middle school students through relational ministry and have a commitment for spiritual growth in their lives.
- Provide for the safety and well-being of middle school students in accordance with the RBCPC Protection Policy.
IV.SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Organize, plan and execute the weekly programs and/or events in consultation with the Coordinator of Middle School.
- Attend all Middle School Staff meetings and monthly Student Ministry Staff meetings.
- Attend both Middle School Sunday Mornings and Tuesday Nights regularly and teach, lead and assist as needed.
- Assist in the planning and implementing of special events and weekly activities.
- Build individual relationships with Middle School youth through contact work, outreach, discipleship, and mentoring.
- Participate fully in the life of the church and practice spiritual disciplines for personal growth.
- Tech assistance: Assist with audio visual preparation and execution for youth events alongside student leadership and adult volunteers and staff.
- Frequent computer work includes, but not limited to: creating videos, teaching presentations, worship slide, fliers, announcements, bible studies, etc… using Mac based products.
- Provide leadership to adult MSM volunteers.
- Provide leadership and attend Middle School camps and mission trips.
- Provide leadership, create and facilitate small group Bible studies.
V.WORKING RELATIONSHIPS
- Reports directly to the Coordinator of Middle School Ministries.
- Relates to other MSM part time staff assistants.
- Work with MSM volunteers leaders and parents.
- Relates as a colleague with other student ministries staff and church staff to ensure that staff relations are team oriented.
- Participates in appropriate MSM and Student Ministries staff and training meetings.
- Has access to the Human Resources Committee of the Session in accordance with the Policy and Procedure Manual of RBCPC.
- Receives an annual review in accordance with the Policy and Procedure Manual of RBCPC.
VI.QUALIFICATIONS
- Two to three years experience working with youth within a local church either as unpaid or paid staff.
B.High School Diploma or equivalent required;college degree (or progression toward a degree) preferred.
- Strong computer skills: Mac preferred.
- Must be a team player and have a vision for the overall ministry of RBCPC.
VII.REQUIREMENTS
- US Citizen or authorized to work in the US.
- Good physical health
- Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds
- Ability to lift up to 150 pounds with assistance.
- Ability to stand or walk up to 7 hours a day.
- Ability to push or pull equipment such as carts, etc..
- Requires flexibility of time and days of week.
- Requires some work on holidays
