SEMESTER BOOK REPORT ASSIGNMENT

Choose one of the following projects as the source of your oral presentation (60-90 seconds). All book reports must be typed, double-spaced, andsubmitted electronically to Turnitin.com. Plot summaries will earn failing grades. Originality matching must not exceed 10%.

BOOK REPORT OPTIONS

1.Type a one-page poem (250+ words) about theme, character, or setting of the book. Include title, characters, themes, and any information proving that you have read book.

  1. Type a one-page different ending to the story. Thentype a three to five sentence paragraph comparing and/or contrasting the themes (not plot) in your ending to those of the original.
  1. Design a book cover for an actual textbook on construction paper, illustrating your two favorite scenes on twodifferentsides of a folded sheet of construction paper; then type one page explaining why you chose these scenes, the themes they reveal, and lessons they teach.
  1. Type a one-page script for and record a TV or radio commercial advertising the book. Use imaginative costuming and setting to convey your ideas. Send an email with your video or audio attachment to .
  1. Create an original, 8” x 11”, mini movie poster with a title and advertisement of the book. Submit to Turnitin.com one paragraph including actors’ names, a one-sentence plot summary, a three to five sentence analysis of theme, character, and/or setting, and a critic’s review of the book.
  1. Present a video recording of a puppet show to tell all or a portion of the story. Type a one-page script of the scene, including dialogue and narration. Send an email with your video attachment to .
  1. Video record a portrayal of a character in a scene from the book. Costume, setting, and effects are required. Describe that character’s role in a typed, one-page character analysis. Send an email with your video attachment to .
  1. Video record a television news interview of a character in your story. Type the one-page script of the interview with questions revealing that character’s traits and the themes of the book. Send an email with your video attachment to .
  1. Type your own two-page short story based on the book, including character dialogue and narration. Then write a one-paragraph explanation of why you created new themes, characters, and setting (no plot summary).
  1. Design an 8” x 11” comic strip/story board about the book with dialogue, narration, and pictures (hand-drawings or computer graphics). Type a one-page analysis of themes and characters illustrated in you strip.
