Career History

2016 - Present, Analyst Consultant, Ricardo Energy & Environment

Ramy joined the Waste Operations team at Ricardo Energy & Environment in supporting senior consultants to execute projects.

2013- Present, PhD Research Student, the University of Cambridge

Ramy'sPhD research focuses on quantifying the environmental impacts of food waste management options using a hybrid life cycle assessment approach. In addition to looking at conventional downstream food waste management technologies (i.e., in-vessel composting, anaerobic digestion and incineration), his research investigates the potential benefits associated with the introduction of a food-waste-to-animal-feed technology. It also explores the potential environmental benefits associated with food waste prevention.

Ramy's PhD (expected submission in 2017) has had a number of peer-reviewed articles developed from it (see publications).

2015- Present, Founder, Zero Waste MENA

"Zero Waste MENA" is a regional initiative to promote sustainable practices and providesupport to create zero waste communities in the Middle East & North Africa (MENA) region.

Zero Waste MENA's goal is to close all landfills in the MENA region by adopting a "Zero Waste to Landfill" strategy. ZW MENA provides all the support needed to develop zero waste communities in the region.

2011, Waste and resources management consultant, self-employed, UK/Palestine

Ramy provided consultancy services in the field of solid waste management to clients including WPE and PAEEP (see project experience above)

2012 -2013, Lecturer, IUGAZA, Palestine

Ramy was appointed by IUGAZA to deliver a university course to undergraduate engineering students.
