Minutes

  1. Welcome – Lynn Mathiesen – new member to committee, CDC rep, replacing Josh Boutotte.
  1. Parent Group Update – Shareen wasn’t able to attend. Lynn was at the meeting. There were 4 individuals/3 families. Child care was in place. New Beginnings group was running another session. Parents agreed to get together more informally through the summer – no planned meeting.
  1. Autism Society of BC–Lynn–will follow up with John Esson. The parent group would like to host year end BBQ - rent out the soccer field. They didn’t want in the fall. This event could be sponsored by Autism Society of BC (mts their criteria). Child minding might also fall under this umbrella. Presently, committee is paying this. Without future workshops, ability to generate some $$, this won’t last long.
  1. Special Olympics is holding info session at CDC on June 15th. They typically target youth. They are also looking at group activities (movement/sport) for younger children.
  1. Youth video –Shareen –still in progress. So far, Shareen has 4 video interviews (about 10 hours of footage). Needs some editing. Shareen was happy with info shared. Youth did give compliments to individuals and teachers who supported them. Shareen hopes it will be ready in the fall.
  1. Brochure – is complete. Sue will get 50 copies made – these can be distributed to doctor’s offices, NHAN (Chantelle), other agencies
  1. Mission statement – also done
  1. Website – need minutes uploaded, update names, add brochure
  1. Other: Community Connect Mtg – Early Years Strategy – test sites (0-6), has to be approved by community table

CDC Variety Show – week before Halloween – city has declared this week as Child Development Week

October also Community Living Month – self-advocate session being planned

No meeting in the summer. First meeting Sept. 16th
