CITY OF FALL RIVER NEW TRASH & RECYCLING PILOT PROGRAMFREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

GREEN TRASH CART

QUESTION & ANSWERS

Q: How will the pilot program work?

A:The City will deliver wheeled carts to every household in the4000 household pilot area. The green cart will be for trash and the blue one for recycling. Each container will be assigned to an address and will have an imprinted serial number for identification purposes.

By 7:00 a.m. on your collection day, place trash in the green trash cart and recyclables in the blue recycling cart. No material left outside the cart will be collected.

All trash and recyclables must fit in their respective containers so that the lid closes. No material may be sticking out of the container.

Bulky items and metal appliances will be collected separately, as notedbelow under Bulky Item Collection.

Q: What if I can’t fit all my trash in the cart provided?

A: Are you recycling everything possible? Recycling all materials accepted in our single-stream recycling program will give you more room in your trash cart. Experience has shown that the large carts provided through this pilot program will meet the needs of most households. If more space is needed on an ongoing basis, please call Public Works at 508 324 2762 or Recycling Manager at 508 324 2580 about getting an additional cart.
