PupilPremiumStatement 2017/2018
PerinsSchool
BackgroundtoPupilPremium
Pupil Premium is additional fundingallocated to schools and Colleges for students aged between 11 and 16 to help support and enhance the education of the most socio-economic deprived, “socially disadvantaged” students. The purpose of Pupil Premium is to close the attainment gap between the students in receipt of Pupil Premium and their peers.
The key factor in achieving this is a relentless drive to improve and sustain the quality of learning in our classrooms and in the outstanding (Ofsted) support we offer our students. The Pupil Premium fund should ensure that these two factors are available and accessible to all students, including those from a “socially disadvantaged” background. Where this is not sufficient orso easily available to close the achievement gaps, we have additional intervention and care for all of our students, but particularly those of disadvantaged backgrounds, to allow all to flourish and achieve.
National research shows that there is no substitute for excellence in classroom practice and clearly shows that disadvantaged students benefit greatly from the highest standards of teaching and learning and, equally, they are disproportionately affected by poor quality teaching.
