Reporting to First Aid - Students who are feeling unwell should report to first aid in the first instance. Mrs Ross or Mrs Ahmed will then contact parents if you have to be sent home. Please do not contact your parents directly and leave the school - report to first aid. (KJG)
All pupils are reminded that the warning bell rings at 8.40am. They should be in class by 8.45 am. If they arrive between 8.45am and 8.55am, they should report to registration, where their registration teacher should mark them late. They should not attempt to sign in late at the office between 8.45am and 8.55am. If arriving after 8.55am, pupils must sign in at the school office. All pupils must endeavour at all times to be on time for school and for classes.
Hockey - Thanks to everyone who came to hockey this Tuesday – the turnout was fantastic! There will be NO hockey on Tuesday due to S2 parent’s evening. Hockey will continue as normal the Tuesday after.
Learner Voice – Year Councils - The next round of Year Council meetings is due to take place during week commencing Monday 25 September. We would like class reps to come ready to discuss the Learning & Teaching policy (the ‘spider’s web’), and Universal Pupil Support through registration. Your register teacher has been asked to encourage discussion of these issues in registration in order that reps are well informed for the Year Council meetings.
European Day of Languages - 26th September is European Day of Languages. Try and speak to Elgin Academy staff (not the modern languages teachers!) in a language other than English to see which members of staff speak another language and give their names to Mr Lestienne by Wednesday 27th September. On Tuesday 26th, the canteen staff will serve you a range of international cuisines for you to try out. On Friday 29th, don’t forget to come and support the acts singing in a foreign language at the 2017 EAvision song contest – Library 1pm. All week starting 25th September, music from around the world will be played in the canteen at breaks and lunchtimes. The winner of the S1 WHY LEARN FRENCH poster competition will be revealed this week too. (JL)
Library Lunchtime Today – the library is closed today at lunchtime. It will be open as usual tomorrow.
Comic Characters Club – will meet in the library tomorrow at lunchtime - Bring your lunch and join in the fun.

S1 Pupil Council The next S1 pupil council meeting will take place on Wednesday 27th September, Period 3 – please note change of period. The agenda will focus on the learning and teaching policy, universal pupil support and aocb. The meeting will take place in the Conference Room.
S3 Recipe Book WE NEED YOU!!(S1,S2,S3,S4,S5,S6) AND YOUR RECIPES!!! Please hand in any recipe for the EA Cook book by Wednesday 20th of September to Miss Ainslie or Mrs Toonen.
Scotland vs England Rugby – Six Nations Championships match on Saturday, February the 24th 2018, @4.45. If you are interested to go to this match with the school, could you please attend a short information meeting on Wednesday the 27th in Room B27 during lunchtime @13.20? Thanks. [S.T.]

S6 Sports Committee There is a meeting for the S6 Sports Committee on Monday at 1.10pm in the PE classroom. All members of this committee should attend however if you have another commitment previously arranged and cannot be there then please let Mrs McDonald know.

Employment Board - Please remember to check the jobs/employment notice board outside Guidance. There are new jobs advertised every week and many places are recruiting now for seasonal workers and part time jobs. LB
S5 and S6 - Tartan Noir - Author Visit
Today, we welcome author Lin Anderson to the library, when she will talk to two Higher English classes. Lin Anderson is best known as the creator of the forensic scientist Rhona MacLeod series of crime thriller novels, and for her part in founding the annual ‘Bloody Scotland’ crime writing festival. If you would like to meet her, pop in and have a chat with her in the library.
