London Trip 2018 ; Could those S3 pupils interested in going to London next May come for a meeting in Room G06 (Mrs. Bodiam’s room) on Thursday the 16th of November, 2017. 2017 Moray Schools Art Exhibition – The Art & Design department would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the following pupils who have had artworks selected for the upcoming exhibition at Moray College: Bethany Taggart 1G, Louise Orr 1I, Robbie Fraser 1I, Irena Waszwrowska 1S, Ellis Cockburn 2G, Ryan Allan 3G, Emily Morris 5M, Abigail Morton 6I, Lauren Willetts 6R. The exhibition celebrates Art & Design work produced by pupils from Nursery all the way through to Advanced Higher level. The official opening is on Saturday 18th November, 11am-1pm and will be on until the beginning of December. This is open to the public during Moray College open hours and the work will be displayed in the Art building, just beside reception. Please feel free to pop in sometime to view the work and admire the amazing talent we have here in Moray. (KT)
Calling all aspiring Musical Theatre/Dance performers - I am very pleased to announce that Lossie Entertainment Academy is offering FREE workshops from 9.30-12.30 on Tuesday 21st November. If you are in S3-S6 and would like to secure a place on the Professional Dance Performance/Professional Musical Theatre Performance/Professional Audition Technique workshops (choose 1,2 or all 3!) please sign up in the Music Department by the end of Friday 17th November. More details available are from Ms Mackay. Places are limited, first come – first served!
Tempest Photographs: Wednesday 15 November is the deadline for handing in photograph orders to the office. Any orders received after this date will have to be sent away directly by parents to Tempest.
Scottish Poppy Appeal - The fundraising committee will be coming around registration classes from Wednesday 1st until Friday 10th of November, selling poppies in recognition of Remembrance Day on the 11th of November. We ask for a suggested donation of £1 for a poppy and the money raised during the Scottish Poppy Appeal is used to provide vital life-changing support to the Armed Forces community living in Scotland.
S2/3/4 Technical Team: Please note the meeting after school on Wednesday the 15th of November has had to be cancelled, however we shall be meeting at lunchtime that day Wednesday 15.11.17, in B57.
Could all the students who have shown an interest in joining the technical team please collect a letter from Mrs Boyd (B57 at lunchtime this week). Thank you.
PHYSICAL TRAINING DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITY - There will be a free fitness session (Outdoors and Indoors-weather dependant) for any student looking to improve their fitness generally or in preparation for joining the forces. The fitness sessions will be run by the new Project Co-ordinator (former Royal Navy Physical Training Instructor) on a Monday initially 1530-1620. All 4th, 5th and 6th years are welcome (including staff). Please meet at the reception ready to go (you must be wearing either, shorts and t-shirt or tracksuit bottoms) and ensure if you require lift home to arrange with your family. Engineering the Future for Girls @ the University of Strathclyde 18th-22nd June 2018- Engineering the Future for Girls is being delivered in collaboration with BP and BAM Nuttall and is designed to engage girls in a wide range of engineering challenges that will inspire them to become the next generation of engineers. The summer school is fully-funded by BP and BAM Nuttall and student costs, including a contribution towards travel, will be covered. Strathclyde will accept applications from girls with any range of subject choices at National 5.
The summer school is non-residential and therefore pupils should be able to make their way each day to the University of Strathclyde campus in the heart of Glasgow City Centre. Teachers are not required to accompany pupils during the week.
Pupils should apply at the online application form. The deadline for applications is 3 December 2017. A confirmation email is sent upon receipt of application. The selection panel will meet in January to review the applications received and all applicants will be informed of the outcome of their application by 31 January 2018. An automated email is sent to teachers informing them of the application submitted and requesting a supporting statement. The supporting statement for each student should be submitted online using a designated link by 15 December 2017, for the application to be considered. Higher PE Study Support - The first PE study support session will be on Tuesday 7th November. All Higher pupils are welcome to come along to B35, between 3.20pm-4.20pm for extra support with the theory aspect of the course.
