PS AIDAN –GRITTERS NOT QUITTERS 22ndJULY 2018

To have God grit means to have a firmness of character or an unconquerable Spirt

Ask a cell member to read Matt. 24:13

  • When we endure or have grit, determination and an unconquerable Spirit and not quit but carry on until the task at hand is complete shall be saved or receive the price, promotion or breakthrough.
  • To start is the easy part, but to finish is the hard part
  • To go from start to finish will require endurance, perseverance, grit and determination
  • The good news is that the same unconquerable Spirit that raised Christ from the dead lives in us and that is why we can endure and will overcome

Ask a cell member to read Matt. 2 Tim. 4:7

  • Paul was one of the greatest gritters to ever live
  • He tells Timothy that he will not quit, but will finish what he started
  • For Paul it was not plain sailing. Read: 2 Cor 11;23-28

Question: What is the difference between people like Jesus, Paul, Billy Graham and Madiba?

All have a singular vision for their lives

  • Jesus said in Luke 19:10 … for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost
  • Paul said in Phil.3.13Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead,
  • Billy Graham said: Heaven is my home, I am just passing through this world.
  • Madiba said: “I have fought against white domination, and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the ideal of a democratic and free society in which all persons will live together in harmony with equal opportunities. It is an ideal which I hope to live for, and to see realised. But my Lord, if needs be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die.”

The enemy does not come to steal, kill and destroy who you were but who you are becoming

As a movement we have a vision

  • Ps At said: I’ll run for you God you don’t have to find another
  • From that commitment he built one church in many locations.
  • We must win the lost at any cost
  • Mend the nets as the catch will be great and each one reach one

4 Things gritters do over quitters

  1. Gritters make a commitment

Read: John 12:24 “unless a grain of wheat” and Matt.16:13-16

Excuses are the crutches of the uncommitted and the road to hell is paved with good intentions

Jesus challenged the disciples – commitment

  1. Gritters surround themselves with producers not consumers

Gritters learn from winners not whiners

Read: John 12:24 “falls into the ground”

  1. Gritters choose to get better and not bitter

Read: John 12:24 “and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies”

Learn to die to people’s opinions and people’s flattery

Gritters are learners who become earners

Quitters are lazy end up getting crazy

  1. Gritters always produce in the end despite the time it takes

Read: John 12:24 “it produces much grain” , Matt. 24:13-14 and Rom. 8:31-32
