PTO minutes fromJanuary 23, 2018

Members present: Lisa Bottom, Jennifer Brue, Marcy Driscoll,Shawna Lankheit, Kim Estes Moorman, Lisa Faulhaber, Terri Miller, Veronica Schweitzer, Carol Simon, and Michelle Poe

Opening Prayer L. Bottom opened the meeting with a prayer.

Minutes The minutes from the November 2017 meeting were read and were approved as written (T. Miller approved and S. Lankheit seconded. None opposed.)

Treasurer Report Marcy read the treasurer’s report for November and December.We had a November beginning balance of $3,095.81, an ending balance of $4,926.08 with an available balance of $3,615.52. We had a December beginning balance of $3,615.52, an ending balance of $4,898.19 with an available balance of $4,092.63. We have set aside funds for Accelerated Reader. Report will be attached to the minutes. (K. Estes Moorman and Lisa Faulhaber approved. None opposed).

School Report

We ending up having to pay the $700 in prizes. The final profit number was: $4,234. Lisa checked on discontinuing prizes in the future and confirmed that next time we can do the prizes on our own. Some ideas of prizes that were discussed were: (i) adding lunch with Principal; (ii) Snappy Tomato Pizza coming to school and kids get to make their own pizza; and (iii) Reds tickets/game with principal (K. Moorman would provide the tickets). Lisa Faulhaber and Terri Miller approved (and will chaperone ). None opposed.

The Pinocchio invoice was given to Marcy along with the contract.

Open House update:

-The $250 tuition voucher was approved by Lisa Bottom and seconded by Marcy Driscoll.

-The ad in the Messenger of $161.10 was not approved.

-Foresters provide donuts, coffee, and milk

-signs and new 4’ x 6x banner cost more than $56 (was $101) but can’t currently find the receipt.

-Veronica will check with Judy Borchers on HC winners from St. Anthony

Potential field trips discussed. The Creation Museum is not approved by the diocese. Still need to check with the diocese on whether the Ark Encounter would be appropriate.

Still need to research the Children’s Museum in Indianapolis or COSI in Columbus.

Kim still available to donate tickets to a Reds day game with enough notice of game selection.

Could also consider an all school trip to the zoo (We have used guest passes of family members in the past. May be able to do this again.)

Upcoming field trips to Aronoff:

-February 8th; and

-March 6th.

Committee Report

Foresters:

-Next Skating party is February 10thfrom 6:30-8:30.

-COF is doing a grand raffle for Pappy Van Winkles bourbon. There are three bottles that will be raffled on 2/23 at Goodtimers. Fundraising must all go through Jim Scheper.

Boosters:

-considering lunches for walkathon and teacher appreciation gift cards

-Golf Outing is next big thing

PTO raffle:

-To date, the profit for the PTO raffle is $900.

-Ron and Jean Jones were the November and December winners.

Old Business

We ran out of time to have Canvas painting with kids Valentine night with parent. Still interested in having this later in the year. Adults may also want to schedule another as well.

Spiritwear – made $197.00 on spirtwear.

Yearbooks – Terri Miller advised we are waiting on a CD from Lifetouch. Add information in the newsletter.

Halloweenfest –final number was $1,175.84!

Buffalo Wings & Rings night was on November 30th. We received a check for $173.00.

New Business

Peel to Save Cards - $10 cards (50%-60% profit fundraiser) for Spring. We can return any unsold cards.

Spa Night – combine below parties for a Mother’s Day Spa Night (or individual parties with one in April, and one in May) – STILL DECIDING AND WILL DISCUSS IN Feb./March:

-Lemon Grass – 20% profit to have a facial party and bingo. Need a head count for bingo. Shampoo and lip scrub – reasonable priced.

-Mary Kay – Hanna is a Mary Kay consultant now. 20% profits donated from a ladies night

-Back Rub Sessions – we discussed someone checking to see if anyone is interested in donating a portion of profits for back rub sessions.

NCAA - K. Moorman suggested divined 100 squares at $20 a square ($40 per student goal) – to make a $1,000 profit. She asked if we could sell NCAA Squares at Pappy Night and the question of a gaming license came up. A solution was mentioned to have a parent run it and then donate the money. K. Moorman said she was willing to do it and will email or bring rules to the next meeting on February 20th.

Midwest has an online fundraiser. There is no price/cost so we have set it up. To date, there has been $300 in orders along with some paper orders. St. Anthony will receive 50% of the profit.

Just a reminder that the City of Taylor Mill will advertise on their sign, Facebook, etc.

We will consider re-starting Flock a Friend in the spring, when the weather gets nicer.
