The notes of the meeting of 20/02/2017 were discussed. Council will distribute and display the previous minutes and agenda for attendees.

  1. Name of the Group

The name, Prospect Mainstreets’ Association was warmly welcomed, as an agreed representation of the main street businesses and traders involved.

  1. Aims of Prospect Mainstreets’ Association

Short discussion was held on the aim of the proposed association and the importance of creating direct action. The group endorsed the draft aims proposed, with a motion to include collaboration. The aims are updated below.

The Prospect Mainstreets’ Association aims to:

1.Support the growth of business on Prospect Road, Churchill Road and Main North Road.

2.Support the centrality of Prospect Road to the successful marketing and growth of all business in Prospect.

3.Support community and business events and seek to ensure the maximisation of local business involvement.

4.Represent the views of business to the community and government.

5.Use social media to link with Network Prospect, City of Prospect, media, community and business.

6.Develop a coordinated approach to events, marketing and business growth.

7.Be at the cutting edge of innovation, engagement and growth.

8.Collaborate with local businesses.

  1. General Discussion
  • ‘Business of the month’ promotion in Prospect Magazine, to encourage action and business participation.
  • Encouraged ideas of informal social activities such as a social dinner
  • Notion of promoting City of Prospect diversity in business offerings – ‘one stop shop’ as everything a consumer needs is here - diversity is a key strength
  • Encourage business listings on Network Prospect or a City of Prospect business ‘list’ – opportunity to include local trader discounts
  • Innovation Precinct – what does the new CLIC building and Palace Nova Prospect mean for the area?

Target- A vacancy rate no higher than 3% in the Village Heart and no higher than 5% elsewhere.
Target- Footfall in Village Heart increased by 100% year on year
3.2 A more vibrant night‐time
Outcome 3.2.1 A City with more people on the streets and more places to go at night
Target- 100% increase in pedestrian footfall after 5pm in the Village Heart year on year.
Target- 20% of businesses to create peak demand after 5pm.
