1.Overview
Hummer X Club organizes regular Hummer related events covering all aspects of Hummer ownership; off road, family, product and community.
Hummer X Club would like to expand the relationship with Ken Batchelor Hummer, including offeringcustomers’ membership of the club at a special discounted rate and providing assistance in other mutually beneficial areas.
2.Hummer X Club
Hummer X Club is registered in Texas as a not for profit corporation. No board member receives any compensation for their work with the club. All club income is re-invested in the club for the benefit of all members.
The club will hold elections every year for the board member positions. Any club member in good standing may stand for election, and all club members may vote. Board positions are held for a period of one year.
Hummer X Club was previously known as “H2 South Texas” and organized events on a regular basis over the last two years in the South Texas area. However, it was decided that the name was restrictive in terms of both vehicle model and geographical area. Therefore, Hummer X Club was formed to cover all Hummer vehicles and remove any geographical restrictions implied by the previous name.
There is already a Hummer X Club chapter in Nevada and negotiations are under way for several other states.
The current Board of Directors of the club are;

The first annual election for Hummer X Club board positions will take place on April 1, 2006.
3.Activities
The club focuses on four main areas of activity;
A/ Off Road Events
This will not only include the existing informal events in San Antonio, but will also include larger events. It is the clubs goal to operate at least four local off road events per year and at least one major event. The first major event is still in the planning stages, but is planned for sometime lateSummer or early Fall at one of the many excellent facilities we have here in Texas, such as Katemcy Rocks, YO Ranch, 7 Canyons, Trees Ranch, etc.
Local events are free. Major events will carry a charge to defray the cost of the facility and event insurance, for which club members will receive a discount.
Larger off road events will also include demonstrations on recovery techniques and discussion of the principles of Tread Lightly.
B/ Family Events
Family events will be focused on activities that the whole family can participate in and enjoy. An example of a recent family event was the Padre Island National Seashore run in May 2005. This was a weekend of Hummer owners camping on the beach, barbeques, and games for the children, etc. The club will be holding at least two family events per year.
C/ Product Events
This is an area the club is still developing, but will be aimed at educating Hummer owners about the available products for their vehicles. There is great potential for Hummer X Club to work closely with Ken Batchelor Hummer in this area. It is anticipated that these events could also be used for some basic schooling in off road techniques, detailing, etc.
D/ Community Events
Hummer X Club is not just about Hummer owners, it is also about participation in the community. This is not only beneficial to the community, but also creates a positive image of Hummers and Hummer owners. Examples of these kinds of events are the recent “Big Wheels Deliver Meals” program, and the “Pony Express Christmas Toy Drive”.
Community events also enhance programs such as “Hummer Helps” and show what can be done for the community.
The club is also open to suggestions on other activities which may be beneficial to the membership.
4.Proposal
There are four main areas that Hummer X Club has identified that could be mutually beneficial;
A/Club Membership
In order to enhance the Hummer ownership experience for Ken Batchelor Hummer customers, Hummer X Club proposes to offer membership at a reduced initial membership fee of ten dollars. The usual initial membership fee is thirty dollars, which does include a club t-shirt, that would not be included in the discounted ten dollar rate.
Each new member would receive a membership information packet including a welcome letter, club bumper sticker and information about the club. They would also be added to our mailing list and receive regular information about club activities and a copy of the quarterly newsletter.
B/Hummer Nights
Another potential area for working together is the “Hummer Nights” program. It is proposed that these would be regular events held at Ken Batchelor Hummer in the evening and would cover a variety of topics; Tread Lightly, off road techniques, products, care of your Hummer, etc.
Hummer Nights would be a great opportunity for communication from Ken Batchelor Hummer to their customers regarding accessories, new products, extended warranty plans, new vehicles, and new services. Hummer X Club would provide the main topic material, speakers, etc, with Ken Batchelor Hummer providing the facility and additional speakers for Ken Batchelor related services.
C/ Newsletter
Hummer X Club produces a quarterly newsletter which contains useful information, tips, techniques and product reviews. Ken Batchelor Hummer is already actively participating in this newsletter, and this participation can be expanded upon to compliment the club membership provided by Ken Batchelor Hummer. A special edition newsletter with a stronger dealer emphasis could also be produced for distribution to potential Ken Batchelor Hummer customers.
D/ Hummer Happenings
The subject of some form of joint participation in Hummer Happenings was discussed briefly in the past. Hummer X Club would be interested in assisting, or even organizing off-road Hummer Happening events. Due to the restrictions of insurance for such events, private facilities contracted exclusively for the event are by the best route to go. Hummer X Club has the experience and manpower to organize such an event at one of the many excellent local facilities previously mentioned.
E/Future Opportunities
There are several other areas of a relationship between Ken Batchelor Hummer and Hummer X Club that may be able to be explored in the future; such as production of promotional material, such as video, for Ken Batchelor Hummer.
5. Summary
In summary it can be seen there is great potential for synergy between Ken Batchelor Hummer and Hummer X Club. Hummer X Club can help enhance the Hummer ownership experience for Ken Batchelor Hummer customers, and offer a platform for continued communication between dealer and customer.
Future possibilities also exist for projects between the two parties to further enhance the ownership experience of Ken Batchelor customers.
