Introduction

This document provides guidance on the process to follow when assessing coach applications for the Tennis for Kids2018 Coaching Programme in your region.

  • Any coach who attended Tennis for Kids 2016 or 2017training will be automatically accepted for the 2018 programme and therefore, whilst they must still apply, they do not need assessing.
  • Any new applicant should be assessed following the process described in this briefing.

How to score and the rules

As above, any coach who attended Tennis for Kids 2016 or 2017 training will be automatically accepted for the 2018 programme and does not therefore need assessing. Regions will need toupdate the data in Siebel for these coaches to “approved”.

This year, the application process for coaches is very straightforward - you are reviewing either a written statement or video.

Each new coach will be asked the following question when they apply: Please tell us why you should be considered as part of the Tennis for Kids 2018 Programme. You can create a short video (1-2 minutes long) OR provide a written statement (no more than 500 words).

  • Assess each new coach based on the criteria below
  • Update the score reportto capture the results
  • Read the written statement or click on the video link in the score report to access coaches
  • The following scores and outcomes will be applied
  • Maximum score is 12
  • Score 7 or higher = successful application coach invited to book on to training
  • Score 5 & 6 = follow up phone interview is required (subject to space)
  • Score 4 or less = unsuccessful application
  • Put the scores for each questions into the score report & result will be automatically populated for each coach

Assessment Process Criteria / Score
  1. Able to explain why they want to be part of Tennis for Kids?
  1. There is evidence that the coach is motivated to deliver a great experience to the participants
  1. The coach has coaching experience that is relevant to Tennis for Kids delivery.

Telephone interviews

If an applicant scores 5 or 6 Sam Richardsonwill conduct telephone interviews to finalise the assessment using a set of questions.

Please ensure you provide Samwith a list of coaches requiring a telephone interview.

Updating Siebel

After the application assessment meeting,the TFK Team will mark all remainingcoaches as either unsuccessful or approved in Siebel.

Instructions:

  • Find the coach in Siebel
  • Click on the “Tennis for Kids Application”
  • Choose “approved” in the drop down in the “Status” column

After the telephone interviews, the Regional Team can mark all remaining coaches as either unsuccessful or successful, in Siebel.

  • Choose “unsuccessful” in the drop down in the “Status” column

Informing Unsuccessful Coaches

Sam Richardson will inform any unsuccessful telephone interview applicants that they have been unsuccessful and will provide feedback as to why.

Regional Teams will inform any unsuccessful applicants (not telephone interviewed) that they have been unsuccessful and will provide feedback as to why.
