SUMMARY

Production Supervisor is responsible for coordinating the flow of work on the production line in the most efficient manner possible, working closely with the DIQ in ensuring the movement of product best utilizes the projected inventory and customer demands.

ESSENTAIL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Ensure that all Packing lines are operated as efficiently as possible.
  • Develop and test different operating techniques to continuously improve operations.
  • Create and document standard operating procedures.
  • Create detailed operating plans for each line on a daily basis.
  • Report to management on any anticipated changes to operating procedures.
  • Report to management on changes in projected PPH amounts.
  • Work with the DIQ to ensure correct inventory movement.
  • Interact with the Sales department to fine tune projected amounts of each package.
  • Create and maintain a balanced first and second shift schedule.
  • Analyze overtime amounts and staffing levels to ensure goals are achieved.
  • Continuously coach and train supervisors to achieve desired PPH levels.
  • Must follow Good Manufacturing Practices, Occupational Safety Procedure and all Food Safety guidelines related to the position or being on the Warehouse floor.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages Packing line employees. Is responsible for overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Willing to learn specific knowledge of physical attributes of produce. Ability to determine grade and size of produce. Knowledge and ability to pack and wrap produce for shipment. Knowledge or willing to learn managing a team, redirecting employees, and problem solving skills.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to communicate effectively and professionally via phone, in person, and in writing.

MATHMATICAL SKILLS

Some independent decision making and problem solving abilities are required to complete orders as well as assist staff and customers.

REASONING ABILITY

Mental capabilities to analyze produce and grade and sort according to customer requests. Independent decision making and problem solving abilities are required to determine scheduling, goal setting, productivity standards, and process improvement. Logical thinking, the ability to manage multiple tasks and common sense are also necessary to accomplish tasks.

  • Lift and carry weights ranging from 0-25 pounds with frequency.
