EDUCATION ACTIVITY ASSISTANT

JOB DESCRIPTION

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

This role will involve providing administrative support for projects within the Opera North Education programme.

POSITION IN ORGANISATION

Reports to the Education Manager; task managed by various Activity Managers on a day to day basis.

DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

General

·  Represent the company publicly as required

·  As a member of the Education Department at Opera North, play an active role in organisation-wide activities, including attending and supporting Opera North events

·  Contribute to the development and delivery of Opera North Education strategy as required.

·  Be a champion for Opera North and its education programme.

·  Maintain an awareness of relevant legislative requirements including health and safety, safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults and equal opportunities.

Core Role

·  Support the delivery of projects from planning stages to final evaluation and reporting.

·  Compile appropriate documentation for projects e.g. programmes, teacher packs, publicity material.

·  Provide an active presence at workshop sessions where required, providing support and a welcoming environment for participants.

·  Coordinate specific Education projects, or events, as required.

·  Liaise with artists, participants, families and other partners and stakeholders where required.

·  Assist in supporting excellent working relationships with all relevant stakeholders. including schools, teachers, participants and partners, ensuring that Opera North is represented positively at all times.

·  Contribute to appropriate documentation and evaluation/monitoring of projects as required.

·  Any other duties as may reasonably be required within the level and scope of the post.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Salary range: £16,500 - £18,000 per annum

Hours of work: Normally 10:00 until 18:00 hrs, Mon-Fri; early morning, evening and weekend work may be required

Type of contract: Permanent Full Time

Normal place of work: Opera North, Premier House, Upper Briggate, Leeds. (Travel to other locations around the North of England, or further afield, may be required)

Holiday entitlement: 33 days inclusive of 8 statutory holidays per annum

Pension: Opera North will automatically enrol you into the company pension upon appointment and after 3 months’ service will make a contribution equivalent to 5.5% of your basic pay, should you meet the current legislative criteria. You will not be required to make a personal contribution to qualify. Opera North reserves the right to make changes to its pension scheme.
