The Federation
The Federation of Foxwood and Highview School caters for students with a wide range of special educational needs. Foxwood works with students primarily with profound, severe and multi-sensory impairment including a significant cohort with autistic spectrum disorder. Highview caters for students with moderate and complex needs with a significant cohort also having autistic spectrum disorder. All the pupils who are admitted have a statement of special educational needs. There is a wide range of ability within the school and all pupils have complex and wide-ranging additional needs.
The Federation is moving from two separate sites to form one new school in new buildings in September 2015 and at that time the pupil roll will increase from the combined 314 currently to 336.
Employment
The post holder is expected to work within the rules and regulations laid down in the current “Kent Scheme” manual. The Head Teacher will take notice of advice given by professional associations.
The post holder will demonstrate a commitment to the aims, vision, development plan and policies of the school. In return the management are committed to support in the training and development of all members of staff. We aim to provide staff with the skills they need to fulfil their duties so that we achieve the highest standards in all we do.
The post holder will share responsibility for identifying their own individual training needs and will demonstrate a commitment to work collaboratively and co-operatively to fulfil these.

Principle Accountabilities:

·  To work in partnership with the Federation Leadership Team to ensure that the care guidance and support for pupils – particularly those in vulnerable cohorts – is outstanding

·  To develop integrated Education Heath Care plans alongside the Assistant Head- Pupil Personal Development

·  To coordinate the work of medical and social services staff in support of pupils at the schools

·  To work as part of a Multi-Agency Dimension team including the Family Liaison Officer and school medical team who work with individual pupils across the school.

·  To work with the schools DCPC to enhance pupil / parent / staff liaison

Specific Accountabilities

·  Promote equality for all individuals, recognising and encouraging anti discriminatory behaviour, respecting confidentiality (unless there are child protection implications), recognising clients’ rights and choice and respecting personal beliefs and identity

·  To support school staff with regard to their physical and mental wellbeing and signpost as appropriate

·  To enhance channels of communication between school / parents / carers for all pupils with reference to CIC’s and other Vulnerable groups of pupils and to attend CiC, Chin, CP, core group meetings, family group conferences

·  To be part of (lead professional as appropriate) TAF and CAF.

·  To be the first point of contact for prospective / new parents / pupils and contribute to the whole school Transition package

·  To develop effective relationships in support of the Federations young people with regard to services delivered from the MASH

·  Support children and families with regard to personal difficulties and signpost as appropriate

·  To lead and participate in induction training for new staff and to lead and facilitate training in partnership with AHT

·  To attend all parents evenings and consultation events

·  To be part of the School’s ASR meetings as appropriate

·  Liaise with members of school staff regarding children as necessary and with parent carer consent

·  Attend support staff meetings to continue own professional training and development as targeted through appraisal process

·  Work in partnership with the school’s DCPC

The Multi Agency Officer may be required to carry out other tasks according to the

exigencies of the School. This job description will be reviewed annually through performance management meetings.


PERSON SPECIFICATION Multi Agency Officer

ESSENTIAL / DESIRABLE
QUALIFICATIONS / Good basic education with competency in literacy and numeracy
Willingness to undertake further training
Driving licence / Willingness to undertake foundation course in basic counselling skills
Medical background
NVQ Health and Social Care
DCPC Trained
EXPERIENCE and ATTAINMENTS / Previous experience of working with children and families in the public, private or voluntary sector
SKILLS and ABILITIES / Excellent communication, listening and observation skills
Ability to handle confidential information
Organisational abilities and accurate record keeping skills
Ability to organise and prioritise workload / Ability to facilitate groups
Ability to chair meetings
Previous experience with inter agency working (Health / Social Services etc)
Willingness to attend evening meetings
KNOWLEDGE / Sound knowledge of County processes and procedures around Children in Care, Child Protection
Sound knowledge of CAF processes and TAF procedures
Sound knowledge and understanding of child growth and development / Enhanced knowledge of basic child protection issues
Knowledge of Extended Schools and ECM Agenda
