Solo/Ensemble Plan for the week of January 2

Primary Goal: Note accuracy

Step One:

Wind instruments – know EVERY fingering or slide position

Percussion – for mallet music = know every note

for drumming = know every rudiment

Please draw any notes/rudiments that you are having trouble with here:

Step Two:

Ask a teacher for specific ways to play notes you are uncertain about with more confidence and a great sound.

Secondary Goal: Know what your instrument should really sound like

Step One:

Find some recordings online that demonstrate fabulous sound (tone). If you aren’t sure how the performer is getting that sound, bring a link to your lesson to show your teacher and get some tips on how to get that sound.

Step Two:

This one requires a little bit of bravery . . .

Use one of our Ipads to record yourself and compare that to the fabulous recordings you found online. Can you hear any differences? If yes, figure out what you need to do to make your sound like the online version (hint: a teacher can provide some quick guidance!)
