Schmitz Cargobull awards its suppliers

Horstmar, September 2017 – The first Schmitz Cargobull Suppliers’ Day was held as part of the celebrations for Schmitz Cargobull's 125th anniversary, at which the trailer manufacturer presented awards to its suppliers in five different categories. Following the welcome address by Chairman of the Management Board, Andreas Schmitz, and Deputy General Manager Purchasing, Bernhard Schmitz, a number of presentations were on the agenda. Andreas Schmitz highlighted the future strategic direction of Schmitz Cargobull, while Andreas Busacker, Board Member for Finance with responsibility for Central Buying, presented the Schmitz Cargobull purchasing strategy to the assembled guests. A talk by Jan Wüllenweber (McKinsey) on the subject of 'Buying in the future' brought the informative experts’ conference section to an end.

At the subsequent award ceremony, Bernhard Schmitz and Thomas Maschmann, Head of Strategic Buying, presented the Schmitz Cargobull Supplier Awards for outstanding services by suppliers.

A Service Award was presented to Oellerking Schleswiger Tauwerkfabrik, which supplies Schmitz Cargobull with side walls and roof tarpaulins for curtainsider semi-trailers. The award was accepted by Dr. Christian Oellerking and Carsten Gens. The second Service Award went to Nedschroef, which produces connecting elements and supplies screws and nuts (connecting elements) to join assemblies or production components. The award was presented to Anders Nyqvist and Marcel van Bussel.

The Performance Award was received by the Neuenhauser Group, represented by Bernd Voshaar and Jürgen Gerst. The Neuenhauser Group supplies front wall portals, rear wall portals, surface coatings and metal assemblies to Schmitz Cargobull.

Two awards were also presented in the International Newcomer category. One award went to the Shangdong Machinery Group (SMG), which supplies forged and metal parts as well as metal assemblies to Schmitz Cargobull, and was received by

Yaolu Jia and Feng Niu. The second award went to Vibracoustic Commercial Vehicle Air Springs (VCAS), Schmitz Cargobull's air spring bellows supplier, and was presented to Sedat Aykol and Markus Hartmann.

SKF and Elkatec were both recipients of the Logistics Award. SKF, represented by Christian Knoche, supplies bearings for Schmitz Cargobull trailer axles. Elkatec, represented by Ingo Oberdick, supplies cables, connectors and cable systems to Schmitz Cargobull.

In conclusion, Schmitz Cargobull honoured two companies with the Strategic Partnership award for their long-standing and intensive work and partnership-based cooperation. Dick Aalderink and Thijs Paping received this award on behalf of VDL Weweler, which supplies air spring components for Schmitz Cargobull running gear. Schmitz Cargobull’s long-standing tyre supplier Hankook was also honoured in the Strategic Partnership category. Hyun-Jun Cho, Vice President Global Product Planning and Dietmar Olbrich, Vice President Sales & Marketing for German-speaking markets, both representing the Hankook management, were thrilled to receive this special award.
