Presenter: Luke Anthony Mudd, Psy.D.
Dr. Luke Mudd earned his undergraduate degree in Psychology from BradleyUniversity. Following the completion of his undergraduate studies, he worked in a family business where he developed and oversaw the Human Resource and Marketing Departments. In his human resource capacity, he designed and implemented employee-related training and incentive programs. When Luke’s family’s business merged with another, smaller company, he began to develop an interest in systems in which individuals live and work. As a result, Luke returned to school to pursue a doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Illinois School of Professional Psychology. Dr. Mudd currently serves as the associate department chair of the counseling department at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology as well as provides psychotherapy to patients at Family Stress Clinic, a multidisciplinary outpatient behavioral health practice located in Libertyville. Dr. Mudd also has worked in community mental health and advocacy which has developed his interest in aggression and violence. He has worked with gang members, violent children and adults, and addictions. His work also entailed working with some server psychopathology patients that had violent tendencies. He has studied aggression at all levels of development and has worked with both perpetrators of violence and survivors. Dr. Mudd has worked as a leadership coach and a consultant for business processes and motivation for the health care industry. Whether working in a coaching or clinical relationship, Dr. Mudd utilizes both Positive Psychology and Solution-Focused Systems approaches, each a strength-based, integrated approach to treatment. The aim of the work is typically to identify goals and develop the skills and attitude necessary for success. The individual being coached is recognized as the only expert of their life experience. They are encouraged to find meaning, gain improved self-awareness, and to apply practical, improved strategies in the systems in which they work and live.
