(1)– Bob Stone relayed that the Chittenden Chapter wants to help the Addison Chapter with recruitment and retention of members. They have donated 100 VSEA glasses (given to Larry Blacklock) to be used at the Ice Cream Social for Addison this summer. Bob also offered to help with anything else – all we have to do is let him know what we need.

(2)Discussion then moved on to increasing attendance at chapter meetings. Joan thought that an agenda item re: retirement issues might help. Joan also suggested having the next meeting at the Exchange Street state building at noon might get more people to attend since a lot of the members work at that location. Anne asked how many members in Addison Chapter. Gretchen will have list of members with locations sent to Anne and Larry.

(3)Everyone thanked Bob for the glasses and offer of help.

(4)- Employee Appreciation Day / Ice Cream Social will be on 08/12/10 (Thursday) at the Exchange Street state building. Anne will attend. Members and members who join that day will receive their ice cream in a glass – all others will receive their ice cream in a cup. It was suggested that “as a draw” we could do a fund raiser for the Food Shelf during the Ice Cream Social by collecting non perishable items for them during the social. Everyone seemed to like this idea. Anne will coordinate with Tracy and Gretchen re: getting press re: Ice Cream Social and Fund Raiser for Food Shelf. Per Gretchen, Doug Gibson will help with press.

(5)– Advantage Program – Gretchen explained about the program and how to solicit businesses to participate. Anne has gone around to the downtown Middlebury businesses a couple of years ago and managed to get the Ben Franklin to join. Anne offered to go around again and try to sign up businesses.

(6)– Stewards – Addison only has Bill Capasso so Bob Stone (Chittenden Chapter President) offered to be a steward in Addison as well. Bob said he would get right on that tomorrow.

(7)- Terry (District Rep) let us know that they are keeping a very close eye on the VSEA budget and they are watching registration closely as well. There is going to be a Summer Study Committee. Retirement and pensions are of great concern. She also let us know that the Annual VSEA meeting will be at the Holiday Inn in Rutland this year. More information to follow.

(8)Anne mentioned that Chip denied her request to wear the VSEA t-shirts for Public Employee Recognition Week on 05/05/10. Bob, Terry and Gretchen all said that Chip can’t deny that request. Bob said he would let Peter Garron know.

(9)Date for next meeting will be the Annual Chapter Meeting on 07/21/10 (Wednesday) at 4:30 PM – the location to be determined. Secretary and Treasurer reports we be given at the Annual Meeting.
