No-one is an island: wisdom from overseas - an invasion of Vikings(and others) –what works for mediators from neighbouring countries and what can we learn from each other? Featuring contributions from:
Sabine Walsh, Ireland; Bernt Wahlsten, Sweden; Anne Hall Dick, Scotland; John Kermode and Tina Hall, Isle of Man; Marion Korn, Canada and others,
interspersed with facilitated discussions in groups, examining how the experience and understanding of mediation in other countries can inform our own practice.

14.00 – 15.30 / No-one is an island: mediation and the justice system – an interlocking community? Panel and group discussions involving mediators and judges from all levels, including FMA President Lord Justice Moylan,focusing on what may be preventing the MIAMs process and/or mediation itself from working effectively in partnership with the justice system and what we can agree to do about it.

Identifying proposals for improving the relationship between mediation and the family justice system, for submission to the FMC – in plenary session, finding some concrete proposals for presentation to FMC and MoJ.
