Purpose of Parent Voice
Parent Voice is run by the parents and carers of children at St Augustine’s Catholic Academy. Parent Voice is not about fundraising or governing the school, it’s about creating a platform for parent’s voices to be heard from, creating opportunities for parents to be involved in school matters, encouraging parents as volunteers and improving communications between the school and the parents/community.
Parent Voice minutes
At least once a term Parent Voice will meet with the Leadership team of the school to discuss issues, please find below the minutes from our last meeting held on Wednesday 25thJanuary.
The points discussed:
Lost Property
Lost property (Wicker basket) is situated in the small hall. Mrs Frisby kindly creates a list of the items found in the collection basket, which is shared with parents at the end of each term. A list can also be found on our ‘Parents Information board’ which is situated outside Mrs Mead’s office. Parent Voice would like to thank Mrs Frisby for her ongoing support with this.
Stamford Orchard
We are still awaiting a few more pine cones before we can begin this project. It is hoped that by Spring Term we will have started the bug hotel.
New Crochet club
After half term,on a Monday afternoon, please come along to our new crochet club. The club will run each Monday from 1.35 pm to 3.00pm. This is a free club for beginners and yarn and hooks will be supplied. If you can already crochet, you are welcome to join us with your own project.
Parents knitting club
Thank you to all the parents that have come along over the last few weeks to this club, the group are working on creating a blanket for the Hamlyn Fistula Hospital in Ethiopia and also a blanket for our sensory room. Thank you to Mrs Frisby for giving up her time to run this club.
Before and After school club notices
It has been brought to our attention that messages are not being passed onto parents who drop or collect children from the Breakfast / After School club- Mrs Crawford will speak to the supervisors and ensure that they remind parents of any importantupcoming dates. Please also check newsletters, the school Facebook page or come in and sign up to receive text messages and emails.
Parent Voice representatives
Coming soon- Look out for class representatives from our Parent Voice Committee, each member will write a small introduction about themselves with a photo; this information will be placed on classroom windows. If parents have any issues that they would like brought forward please grab one of these representatives on the playground or via email.
Getting to know the staff
It was suggested that it would be helpfulto publish a picture and some information about our staff at the school; each week in the newsletter we will try to publish a staff photo and a short paragraph about each member of staff so that parents can become familiar with all the staff at St Augustine’s.
Gardening Club
Mrs Towers and Mrs Saunders have kindly offered to run our Gardening club in the spring term- watch this space for dates and availability.
Next meeting- Wednesday 1st March 2017 @3.15pm
