PRAYER FOR FAITH, HOPE & CHARITY
Loving God, we pray, that the
Toronto Catholic District School Board community continue to witness to the theological virtues
of Faith, Hope and Charity.
May we be people of FAITH,
always willing to follow the example
of Jesus in all that we do.
May we be people of HOPE,
always trusting in your
loving presence in our lives.
May we be people of CHARITY,
always willing to give of ourselves
to better the lives of others.
Together, may we be a community
of faith, anchored in hope,
with heart & charity.
Through, Christ our Lord.
Amen
Lockdown/Hold and Secure Procedures
The Toronto Catholic District School Board has a primary responsibility to ensure the safety of students and staff inside board buildings and on Board property. In partnership with the Toronto Police Services and the Toronto Catholic District School Board, a city wide safety emergency school lockdown procedures plans has been developed.
The “Emergency Lockdown Procedure” is initiated, should a high risk incident involving weapons, hazardous chemical spill; severe weather warning; student/stranger intrusion; etc. occur in the schools or on school property, or there are circumstances in the vicinity of the school that could endanger the lives and/or the safety of students and/or staff.
In order for all students and staff to become familiar with the expectations during a lockdown, our school will be practicing emergency lockdown procedures as we have normally done with fire drills. During these drills there will be signs posted on the entrance doors indicating that the school is in lockdown. The doors will be locked and no one will be allowed into the school. This is the same procedure that will be followed in a real situation. We will be holding two lockdown/hold and secure practice drills during the school year. The first will be held on: October 25, 2012 in the Fall and the second on April 23, 2013 in the Spring.

Student Corner
On Friday, September 28, 2012 the Me 2 We team went to the ACC Center to attend the We Day concert. It featured performers such Nelly Furtado,Hedley Kanaan, and Shawn Desmond who put on a great show . Along with these amazing performers the team, which consisted of 13 grade 7 and 8 students, had the opportunity to listen to great motivational speakers. The speakers included Al Gore, Spencer West , Martin Sheen, Marc and Craig Keilburger along with many others. Every speaker spoke about the importance of youth’s involvement in local and worldwide issues such as hunger and water supply. It definitely made an impact on all who attended and reaffirmed the role of Me 2 We team at our school and our long-term project to build a well in Africa. The atmosphere at We Day was amazing, everyone was loud and excited. The stage was lit up in bright colours. We Day is an unforgettable experience that will last a life time and Mother Cabrini’s Team is ready to start making a difference. Thank you to all the parents who drove students and teachers to the subway that morning. WE CAN BE THE CHANGE!

Terry fox Walk
This September the Mother Cabrini School Community really showed spirit while walking the annual Terry Fox Walk. All the students dressed in red and white and cheered to raise awareness for cancer. We are very proud of what we have accomplished. We walked an estimated 3km and raised over $600 thanks to donations. We would also like to give a special thanks to all the Teachers. They were amazing supervisors and without them the Terry Fox walk would not have happened. Another person we would like to thank is Mrs. Moretto, who organized the whole event. Hopefully next year, we can do just as well. Maybe we can even do better. Lastly, thanks to all the students who wore red or white, showed spirit or donated money. Maybe one day our Contribution of money will help find a cure for Cancer.
