Potfest in the Pens 2016 – Fri, Sat, Sun August 5 /6 /7th

The essence of the show is fair play to everyone so there is no selection - spaces allocated strictly in the order applications come in by post. There are no short cuts – no emailed applications, bank transfers, etc – spaces are allocated only on receipt of an application form with an enclosedcheque and in the order the envelopes are opened.

Don’t send by special delivery - if there is no-one in to sign for it, it will be returned to the post office in Penrith whichwill result in it taking a lot longer for your application to reach us than if you’d just used a normal stamp. ( The same happens if your stamp is not of the correct value for the size or weight of the letter )

Once accepted and the cheque banked cancellation at any time will incur a £50 administration fee. The cost of fliers, posters, distribution, web construction, bank charges, postage, etc, will already have been met. Cancellation after May 1st 2016 will result in the loss of all monies paid. Potters unable to attend for any reason cannot by-pass the waiting list and give their space to a third party

Rules -Signing the application form means you have read the rules and agree to abide by them. Anyone breaking, stretching or bending them, will be seen as not taking part in the fair play to everyone spirit of the event and will not be eligible in future.

1/Only individual potters can take part – no companies or agents. Only ceramics can be sold at Potfest. Sketches and working drawings can be on display but not for sale. If in doubt contact us.

2/ All the work displayed must be produced entirely by the potter on the stand and whose name is on the application form. No bought in and decorated blanks, no bought in and assembled components e.g. ceramic beads etc. The maker must be present and on the stand at all times.

3/ Aisles are narrow and the province of the public, the space booked is the space within the confines of the stall. This is the selling space and the potter and all the work must be contained within this space.

5/ Everyone is expected to help in building an audience for ceramics by:

a] Informing their own customer data base.

b] Helping to distribute promotional fliers.

6/ Stalls with high sides can inadvertently steal their neighbours’ light, present scruffy backs and be detrimental to displays on all sides. Anyone with a stand higher than six feet should inform me at the time of application.

7/ The organiser has public liability insurance for the show in general, but potters must also have their own.As a professional potter selling direct to the public either at Potfest, craft fairs, from the studio or just mixed markets, everyone should carry public liability insurance. In an age of litigation any freak accident could result in a major claim against a potter. Potfest carries public liability for the fabric of the show but has no jurisdiction over individual stalls.

No application will be accepted without visual proof of the potter’s public liability insurance.

Probably the most cost effective way is to subscribe to A N [ Artists Newsletter ], become a member of AIR [ artists interaction and representation ] and get a monthly email newsletter and £5 million public and product liability cover £34 a year. -

*** Keep a copy of the application form so you don’t have to ask me later - what you’ve booked, how big the stalls are, how big are the tables, how many are there, is there power, what’s our address, can I have power for spotlights/my phone charger/my visa machine?
