Contract:12 Month Fixed Term(Part Time)

Salary:£25,151 pa pro rata inc LW allowance + pension + benefits (NJC scale range 24 -26)

Hours:21 hours per week excluding breaks. Occasional weekend and evening working as appropriate to the needs of post.

Annual Leave:33 days per yearpro rata including bank/ public holidays

Probation Period:6 months

Passage House consists of three integrated projects: A 20 bed assessment centre, a 22 bed second stage hostel and a 5 bed Foyer unit. The Aim of the Foyer is to focus on clients’ ability to actively address issues of employment, employment related training, personal identification, financial inclusion, welfare benefits and life-skills. For that reason only those clients actively seeking employment can be accommodated at the Foyer.

JOB PURPOSE

The role of the ETE worker at Passage House is to engage all residents in meaningful occupation of time to improve their confidence and skills. The ETE worker will work alongside the project workers and specialist workers to seek out appropriate personalised opportunities for all residents within psychological informedways of working.

MAIN TASKS

  • To develop a programme of educational, training and volunteering opportunities as well as facilitating creative activities and life skills groups,employment, training and educational opportunities for Passage House residents, taking into account both internal and external resources.
  • To assess each resident’s needs and aspirations and to offer a flexible, personalised support plan based on this assessment. To then monitor and review the client’s progress on an ongoing basis to ensure residents continue to be engaged.To assist key workers in assessingresident’s needs and aspirations, specifically with respect to training, employment, welfare benefitsand financial inclusion issues. To contribute to support plans based on this assessment.
  • To develop partnerships with internal and external ETE services within the organisation, with volunteers, across the local community and amongst other agencies to ensure residents are offered as wide a range of opportunities as possible.
  • To nurture an environment that is peer lead.
  • To assist the organisation with at least 2 Passage fundraising events.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • In conjunction with your Line Manager to continuously develop the role to ensure that all tasks are being undertaken in an effective and appropriate manner which meets the strategic aims and objectives of The Passage.
  • To participate in internal/external meetings as required, and attend training events, conferences and other functions as necessary.
  • To participate in regular supervision and annual appraisal, and help in identifying your own job-related development and training needs.
  • To ensure that all The Passage policies and procedures are being adhered to.
  • Keep and maintain accurate casework records on the Passage Chain database and in paper form, working within relevant legislation and Passage policies and procedures.
  • To contribute to the effective implementation of The Passage’s Diversity and Equality Policy as it affects both The Passage and its work with vulnerable adults.
  • To at all times undertake your role in a professional manner maintaining a high quality standard of work, and to always work in accordance with the aims, values and ethos of The Passage[1].
  • Undertake any other duties that may be required which are commensurate with the role.

EXPERIENCE

E1Significant and proven experience of delivering support services to socially excluded clients in a residential or similar setting.

E2Proven experience of delivering one to one training to vulnerable individuals, particularly around Microsoft Office and above.

E3Proven experience of supporting and encouraging vulnerable individuals in accessing employment and education opportunities.

E4Experience of using petty cash systems and working within budget.

E5Experience of working effectively with colleagues and residents to increase awareness of and participation in employment, training and recreational opportunities

KNOWLEDGE

K1Awareness of the need to keep up-to-date with developments in the fields of training, accreditation methods, qualifications, benefits and government initiatives with particular reference to homeless people.

K2Knowledge of the Supporting People framework, in relation to user involvement.

K3Knowledge of financial inclusion initiatives and debt advice services.

K4Knowledge of social enterprise practice and outcomes.

K5 Knowledge of developing assessment procedures to determine residents’ training and employment needs and aspirations.
