Post:Digital Resources & Collections Assistant

Contract:Part-Time, Fixed Term 14 hours/wk

Responsible to:Digital Resources & Collections Manager

Summary of Role:

Reporting to the Digital Resources & Collections Manager you will assist with the acquisitions of library resources in both electronic and print format, ensuring that missing items are chased and links work seamlessly. You will deal with subscription agents, publishers and book sellers using LSTM’s finance system to place and monitor orders as well as the library’s own management system to monitor their receipt and accessibility. You will also help in the preparation of statistics for senior managers.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Monitoring e-journal resource access and links and reporting any problems to the relevant vendor;
  • Placing orders for electronic and hard copy resources and monitoring their arrival, reporting problems and chasing up with suppliers;
  • Reconciling invoices for new acquisitions;
  • Liaising with the Technical Services team over the production of new records for library acquisitions;
  • Responsible for updating subscription information on the Online Public Access Catalogue and other areas used to publicise library services e.g. the library blog;
  • Re-order old stock when required;
  • Running system and statistical reports on resource usage;
  • Administration of Article Processing Charges;
  • Adding and editing publications on LSTM’s Institutional Repository
  • Work as part of the greater LSTM Library team carrying out desk duties and occasional evening cover if required;
  • Carry out information skills training for library users;
  • Adhere to LSTM policies including Equality and Diversity; Health & Safety; Freedom of Information; Data Protection and Information Security;
  • Ensure confidentiality at all times, only releasing confidential information obtained during the course of employment to those acting in an official capacity in accordance with the provisions of the Data Protection Act and its amendments.
