POST:Catering Stores Coordinator

RESPONSIBLE TO:Curriculum Manager Catering and Commercial Catering Manager(s)

Job Purpose

Edinburgh College provides high quality training in professional catering. To support the curriculum and catering operation we are looking to recruit a Catering Store Coordinator to be responsible for, and manage the catering food stores on a day to day operation covering curriculum & catering food deliveries.

To support the curriculum teaching, catering management and income generation activities. To maintain a safe and hygienic working environment within the stores and work within the standards and practices of the hospitality industry. Experience of HACCP is essential for these posts.

Main tasks

  • To place orders for all food and appropriate non-food items required for teaching and commercial activities with appointed external suppliers, undertaking cost comparisons as appropriate.
  • To taking deliveries, and check the receipt of all appropriate orders in line with College haccp policy and appropriate legislation in force, and to liaise directly with line Manager where inaccuracies occur.
  • To complete all documentation and take the necessary action in cases of non-delivery, substandard deliveries or over pricing.
  • Monitor stock levels and reorder as necessary.
  • To manage and distribute all food and associated products for teaching and commercial activities.
  • To ensure correct stock rotation on a first in first out basis.
  • To ensure that all items are stored correctly, in terms of temperature, humidity and shelf life, and that no food items are stored on the floor.
  • To ensure that all issues are made against requisitions and that no items leave the storeroom without the appropriate documentation or signature.
  • To be responsible for internal administration procedures including financial controls associated with the storekeeping function for curriculum.
  • To manage and be responsible for ongoing internal stock control of all commodities including completion of annual stocktaking for curriculum and commercial catering.
  • To be responsible for the labelling, storage and reuse of curriculum foods and the management of all foods within the store areas.
  • To ensure maximum security of all store areas, that no unauthorised person enters the stores or is issued with a key allowing access.
  • To inform management and follow agreed procedures in the case of spoilage or damaged or any item.
  • To carry out accurate stock takes and support other sites with stock management.
  • Update the stock ledger for better planning and forecasting. Update online entriesforordering and stock monitoring.
  • To manage the curriculum food budget on a weekly/monthly basis, liaising with management when possible over spend may occur.

There will be an element of the role that is cross campus and the post holder must be flexible.
