Native American Storyboard

To supplement our novel, you will create a Native American storyboard to display in the hallway. This is an individual assignment, and will be graded as a test grade, so do your best work!

You may complete your storyboard on any size poster board that you would like. The paper must be “aged” and have an antique or old look to it. Here are a couple of websites that may help:

We will have some class time to work on the storyboard in class, but the aging must be done at home under the supervision of an adult. Please do not try any of the aging process on your own without a parent present. The final poster is due on Friday December 12h when you walk in the door. No emailed projects will be accepted.

Expectations:

After aging your paper/poster, divide it into nine (9) equal squares.

You will include at least one symbol/picture in each square for each dance that Cole has to do throughout his time on the island. The pictures can be drawn or printed from the computer and must have a Native American theme to them. The dances are as follows with page numbers:

Whale (151)

Wolf (162)

Spirit Bear (171)

Eagle (181)

Beaver (186)

Anger (194)

Storm (197)

Salmon (197)

Mouse (230)

Your story board should have a very different picture for each square that represents the animal/nature dance Cole performed and little to no white showing. Your poster will reflect a Native American theme and represent the culture discussed in the novel.

Relate: Also, within each square, write a sentence describing what Cole felt about each animal or element of nature, and how the dance relates to your personality or life.

All grammatical, spelling, and punctuation rules will apply. Check your poster before turning it in. Write your name, class period and date on the BACK of your poster. Read and follow the rubric on the back.
