POSITION: Volunteer Engagement Coordinator

REPORTS TO: Senior Manager

LOCATION: Hamilton, ON

STATUS: Regular, Full Time

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Volunteer Engagement, the Volunteer Engagement Coordinator is a member of a province-wide team that supports the effective engagement of volunteers based on organizational needs and community interests. The role includes working collaboratively across the Ontario Volunteer Engagement team to support positive full life-cycle relationships with volunteers and other key stakeholders that are critical for the success of our mission.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works across assigned communities/portfolios to ensure volunteer, community and organizational needs are being met, problem solving with Senior Manager where needed.
  • Participates as a member of the Ontario Volunteer Engagement team to prioritize needs, set annual and emergent action plans, balancing local and provincial/national requests.
  • Helps evaluate the local effectiveness of centralized systems and processes, providing additional community-specific support as needed to meet goals and priorities in key workflows like recruitment, screening and stewardship.
  • Ensures that volunteers are set up for success through orientation, training and regular support from their staff partner.
  • Confirms critical volunteer data is captured in CRM to support appropriate recognition and stewardship touchpoints and that staff partners are updating files appropriately throughout the volunteers’ tenure.
  • Participates in Ontario Volunteer Engagement Team evaluation processes, incorporating regional and volunteer feedback to inform improved planning and system enhancements.
  • Stays abreast of community opportunities and partnerships that drive volunteer engagement practices and outcomes.
  • Contributes to developing customizable (as appropriate) tactics and tools that have a positive impact on the quality of the volunteer experience we can offer and the performance and impact volunteers have.
  • Provides overall leadership and support in a specialization as determined in conjunction with the Senior Manager.
  • Works in compliance with the provisions of The Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations, the Society’s Health & Safety Policy and organizational processes and standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Completion of a volunteer management certificate or post-secondary education in a related field or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience. CVRM, CCVA or another related accreditation considered an asset.
  • At least 3 years of experience as a leader of volunteers preferably in a multi-level organization or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong team player; experience working as part of a virtual team considered an asset.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders through effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly motivated and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment on various tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise sound judgement.
  • Enthusiasm to be part of a cutting-edge Volunteer Engagement staffing model
  • Proven ability to take initiative and strong project management skills.
  • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills. Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Outlook/Word/Excel) and experience working with databases and social media

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Office environment with occasional requirements to work outside of regular office hours (some evenings and weekends).
  • Valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle.
  • Regular travel required within assigned geographic area
  • May work outdoors and exposed to elements during key events
  • A Criminal Records Check is required
