Position Title: Part-Time 3rd Shift Housekeeping Assistant

Responsible to: Housekeeping Team Leader

Summary of Position:

This position is responsible for completing assigned housekeeping tasks during the third shift (11pm-7am). This person will also be responsible for responding to emergencies and resident needs as requested by the Third Shift Resident Support Coordinator. In the event this position is the senior third shift staff member, this position will be the Third Shift In-Charge staff member.

Principal Duties:

  1. Complete all housekeeping tasks and special projects as assigned by the Housekeeping Team Leader.
  2. Be available to residents by remaining visible as much as possible. Serve as Third Shift In-Charge staff person when the senior on duty staff is unavailable.
  3. Document all significant resident activity and any important resident behavioral issues or care needs which need to be addressed.
  4. Provide care in a manner that respects residents’ dignity and uses mental health recovery principles to encourage residents to seek wellness and reach their personal goals.
  5. In case of emergency or crisis, coordinate communication with emergency personnel and notify on-call staff as needed.
  6. Work to build and maintain healthy rapport with all residents and staff, attending at least one staff or department meeting monthly.
  7. Pray regularly for spiritual, emotional, and physical well-being of residents and for your own insight and wisdom.

Physical, Spiritual, and Social Requirements:

  1. This position requires a professing Christian with a heart for working with people. Strong rapport with staff and residents is essential.
  2. The job requires a person who strongly believes in and owns the vision, mission, and values of Paxton Ministries. Every staff person is encouraged to participate in staff prayer times, spiritually-focused times with residents, and occasional special events.
  3. Skills of organization and planning are required. He/she must be flexible and show patience even when confronted with interruptions.
  4. Must be able to lift and/or move 20 pounds, occasionally assist with lifting up to 100 pounds. Must be able to stand for periods of time, reach above and below, climb, kneel, crouch, crawl, and stay generally active throughout the work day.

5. Skills of perception, understanding and caring for people are essential. He/she must be patient, calm under pressure, not easily provoked and emotionally stable.

Specific Job Requirements:

  1. Preference will be given to a candidate with experience in working with mentally challenged adults.
  2. Must be able to consistently work under specific daily deadlines with a healthy attitude and receive direction, instruction, and correction with graciousness.
  3. Skills of perception, understanding, and caring for people are essential.
  4. The job requires a person who is self-motivated and who has the ability to work independently.
  5. This is a part- time paid position that will require approximately 24 hours per week. The normal schedule will be Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. The hours typically worked will be from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Days worked may need to be adjusted from to time to reflect any resident or staffing needs at that time.

* In addition to the above, all staff are encouraged, but not required to, attend and participate in occasional special community events, i.e. banquets, picnics, etc.
