POSITION TITLE:Director of Family Services & Neighborhood Outreach

FLSA CLASSIFICATION:Exempt

REPORTS TO:Chief Operating Officer

JOB PURPOSE:

  • Lead the Affiliate’s Family Services Department
  • Implement Family Services Department goals approved by the Board of Directors
  • Manage the Family Services Staff
  • Ensure compliance with Mortgage Procedures and Regulations as applicable for Family Selection and Partnership Period
  • Direct the Family Selection and Support Program in accordance with Affiliate policies and procedures

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Uphold the Mission and Values of Habitat for HumanityGreensboro
  • Represent HHGG in the Greensboro community, with Habitat International and among other Habitat affiliates
  • Create an environment where volunteers are productively engaged in the organization’s work
  • Create an environment where staff members are strongly encouraged to participate in faith formation activities
  • Keep informed of innovation, trends and best practices. Seek to regularly initiate and implement creative practices and programs to achieve greater operational efficiency and productivity
  • Promote an environment where safety of staff, volunteers and homeowners is a high priority.

JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Keep informed of innovation, trends and best practices and regularly initiate and implement creative practices and programs to achieve greater operational efficiency and productivity.
  • Identify the department’s needs (staffing, equipment, contractors, etc.), the resources to meet those needs, and be accountable for planning, monitoring and directing the department’s budget
  • Hire, supervise and evaluate and foster professional development of departmental staff and volunteers
  • Direct homeowner marketing, recruitment, qualification, and approval process and compliance with Mortgage Procedures and Regulations and Fair Housing and Privacy laws
  • Direct pre and post purchase homeowner preparedness program
  • Create opportunities for homeowners to participate in ongoing ministry
  • Provide support to Family Services and Family Selection Committees of the Board of Directors

RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal: Executive Director, Board of Directors, Department Directors and staff. Direct reports including: Family Services Assistant; Neighborhood Outreach, Housing Counselor, AmeriCorps Workers

External: Habitat homeowners, homeowner applicants, volunteers, social service providers, other Habitat affiliates, community leaders and partner agencies

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent required.Masters in related field a plus.
  • Management experience required.
  • Experience working in the social service non-profit arena preferred.
  • Experience working with English as Second Language clients desired.
  • Multi-lingual with proficiency in Arabic, French and/or Spanish a plus.
  • Experienced certified housing counselor or working knowledge of fair housing processes and regulations preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills required. Ability to work with a diverse group of staff, volunteers and prospective and current home owners.
  • Computer literacy and working knowledge of office software applications and programs.

CLASSIFICATION:

This position is classified as full-time regular, exempt.

This position has been approved for flexible work schedule arrangements.
