Job Title: Food Pantry Program Coordinator

Reports To: Executive Director

Location: Primarily at DeerfieldCommunity Center, 3 W. Deerfield Street

SalaryRange:$10.00/hour

Hours: 5-10 hours per week

Position Summary:

This position will act as primary coordinator of the Deerfield Food Pantry. Responsibilities will include ensuring that adequate food supply is available to users of the pantry as well as securing volunteers to assist in the administration of the food pantry operations. The position will provide assistance to individuals and families utilizing the program and coordinate training volunteers to ensure compliance with food pantry guidelines. The coordinator will evaluate the existing programs;make recommendations for new opportunities and develop those opportunities approved for implementation. Assist the Executive Director in ensuring financial viability of the program and soliciting contributions for the operation of the program.

Essential Functions of the Job:

Supervise volunteers involved in the food pantry operations. This includes but is not limited to recruiting volunteers and scheduling those volunteers in the operation of the food pantry.

Plan and present program change recommendations (where appropriate). If changes are approved, work with the executive director to plan and execute changes to the food pantry program.

Coordinate and accept registration for participation in the program and expand knowledge of the program across the entire community.

Responsible foranswer phone calls and return email questions regarding the food pantry program as well as other DCC programs offered.

Work with TEFAP and Second Harvest to maximize food selection offered to participants who utilize the pantry.

Responsible for ensuring the center rules, safety standards, and facility guidelines are followed. Maintain a variety of automated and manual records on center program usage; enter data into computer; prepare and submit reports on program usage.

Participation in any DCC involved community resource teams.

Perform other duties as required.

Location and Equipment:

Position will be based out of the DeerfieldCommunity Center, 3 W. Deerfield St., Deerfield, WI. Some time will be required with in the Deerfield and Cambridge communities as support for the program is secured. Operation of standard office equipment to include Microsoft Windows operating system, telephone, and computer, printer, and copy/fax machine is necessary.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Must have the ability to follow verbal or written communications; communicate effectively verbally and written with public and coworkers in a professional and courteous manner; explain and enforce operating policies and procedures; handle money and maintain fiscal records;operate general office equipment, word processing equipment, and independently carry out policies and procedures within assigned area of responsibility. Must be available to work nights, weekends and holidays. All duties are performed under the supervision of the Executive Director.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must have experience in working with the public and keeping general records. Must posses a valid driver’s license and pass a background check.
