POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

POSITION TITLE: / Surgical Technology Program Director/Instructor
POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Under general supervision, prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction for Surgical Technology program. Develops program and syllabi, goals and objectives. Evaluates students' progress in attaining goals and objectives. Requests and maintains supplies and equipment and prepares budget requests. Maintains program certification requirements, as appropriate. Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports. Attends staff development training, workshops, seminars and conferences. Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area. Meets with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students' instructional programs and other issues. Assists with recruitment, retention and job placement efforts.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
·  Candidate must have a minimum of an Associate’s degree.
·  Possess a credential in the field of surgical technology through a national certification program that is accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA) such as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST).
·  Candidate must hold Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
·  Have a minimum total of five years of experience, either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both, within the past ten years.
·  Possess proficiency in instructional methodology, curriculum design, and program planning.
·  Possess experience/training as an educator.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
·  Managerial experience in the clinical setting and/ or educational setting.
·  Broad clinical experience in the surgical technology area.
