Annual Report 2012-13

Shri Gujarati Samaj is a large educational organization dedicated to the cause of education. It represents, not only the city, but entire Madhya Pradesh. It is running 9 colleges and 6 schools today, and also 71 School Buses for the students. Around 1,230 teachers and other employees are serving to the cause of imparting education and near about 24,220 students are taking education under the aegis of the Samaj. It is a matter of pride for the Samaj that amongst every 7th students of the University one student belongs to Gujarati College. The Main aim of the Samaj is service without any self interest

Shri Gujarati Samaj B. Ed. College was established in June 2005. It is recognized by Higher Education M.P., N.C.T.E., Rajya Shiksha Kendra and D.A.V.V., Indore.The Collegeinsisted on achieving excellence in every endeavor in the field of education. Shri Gujarati Samaj B.Ed. College functions with a vision “To become a leading educational institution for providing qualified and competent ICT friendly teachers, with global teaching competencies, having moral, cultural and aesthetic values.” This report is a brief account of the activities organized during the Academic Year 2013-14 that throws light on the development of students and Teachers.

Admission:-

Admission for the session 2012-13 was done through online centralized counseling, by department of Higher Education, M.P. All the 100 students were admitted through Counseling. In the first round 69 students were admitted, while 15 and 15 students were admitted in second and third round of counseling. In the last round one student was admitted. The admission process for the session 2012-13, started from 10th January 2013 and continues till 15th April 2013.

Start of the Academic Year:

The students of the year 2012-2013 were admitted in the month of March 2013. The academic session commenced late by about eight months, i.e. on 18th March 2013. Orientation:

Orientation program was organized from 18th March to 20th March 2013.In the Orientation program students were introduced with Syllabus, Curriculum, Evaluation method, Annual Programmes, Guest’s lectures, Workshops, Seminars, Co-curricular activities to be held. Students were also introduced with all teaching and non-teaching staff, various facilities available in the college, premises of the college and rules and regulations of the college.

Micro Teaching:

Micro lessons were started from 21st March 2013, onwards. Ms. Bharati Jadon was the in-charge of the Micro teaching programme. 21 lessons were presented by each student, on seven different skills of Micro Teaching. This session was continued till 15th May 2013.

Practice Teaching:

Practice Teaching is an important aspect of B.Ed. course. The success of entire teacher training programme depends upon Practice Teaching. Every student has to present total forty lessons, twenty lessons in each of the two Method of Teaching. The Practice Teaching was conducted in the Schools run by parental institute i.e. CMP School, RRMB School and K.B. Patel Secondary School and Shri KB Patel Higher Secondary School . It was done in the month of September and October 2013.

Annual Function:

Annual function for the academic session 2012-13 was organized on 10th January 2014. The chief guest and guest of Honour were Dr. B.K Passi, Ex. Deen, School of Education DAVV, and Shri Umesh chandra Chawda, Treasurer, Jansari Samaj, Indore. The programme was presided by Shri Vinodrai Pandya, President of Shri Gujarati Samaj and Shri Pankaj Bhai Sanghvi, Hon. Secretary of Shri Gujarati Samaj, Shri Kiran Bhai Shah, Chairman of Education Board College, Shri Gujarati Samaj and many other dignitaries were also present. Solo Dance and Group Dance Competition were organized and along with it many other competitions like – Mehendi, Rangoli and Dish making were also organized on account of annual function.

Academic Performance:

Our students worked consistently on the academic front under the expert guidance of our highly qualified and dedicated faculty. The result of the batch 2011-12, was declared in the month of February 2014, our students bagged three merit positions among top 10 positions declared by the Devi Ahilya University, The result for the academic session 2011-12 was 93%. A large number of students passed out with the distinctions in various subjects,

EVENTS ORGANIZED IN THE COLLEGE

During the session various events were organized in the college for the development of both the students and members of faculty. These events boost the confidence of students and allow them to explore new vistas in life.

A)Inter-College Competitions

Inter-College competitions were organized in the college on 23rd and 24th December 2013, on Poster Making, Slogan writing, A.V. aids and Essay writing in which 91 students of 9 colleges from Indore city were participated in the following six categories:

B)Days Celebrated

Days of importance were celebrated throughout the year to infuse a sense of pride in the Indian culture among students.

World Health Day was celebrated on 7th April 2013 by organizing Nukkad Natika on Health Awareness in the slum area.

World Environment Day was celebrated 05.06.2013, on this occasion students had taken oath that they will not use plastic in their life as far as possible and Poster Making Competition was also organized. In this competition students were asked to prepare a poster on ‘Environment conservation’. Forty two students participated in this competition.

Guru Poornima was celebrated on 22nd July 2013 . Students and teachers expressed their thoughts, regarding the important place Guru in the life of an individual. Prof Aparna Vyas was the coordinator of this programme.

Teachers’ Day was celebrated on 5th September 2013 by organizing a lecture

Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated on 2nd october2013 by organizing rally. Every year Shri Gujarati Samaj organizes a rally, where in all the members of Shri Gujarati Samaj belongs to different institutions gather for garlanding on Mahatma Gandhi’s statue on his birthday .

Patel Jayanti was celebrated on 31st october2013 by organizing rally. Every year Shri Gujarati Samaj organizes a rally, where in all the members of Shri Gujarati Samaj belongs to different institutions gather for garlanding on Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel’s statue on his birthday.

International Literacy Day was celebrated on 8th September 2013. On this occasion students were assigned the project of Each One Teach One. Students have successfully completed the task.

AIDS Awareness Day was observed on 1st December to sensitize students and make them feel concerned about the global problem AIDS and AIDS patients.

Human Rights Day was observed for creating awareness among students regarding various human rights from 10th December to 20th December

Republic Day was celebrated on 26th January in third premises of Gujarati Samaj i.e. in Scheme Number 54. Students presented different types of Dances, Songs and Yogas also on this occasion.

International Woman’s Day: The international Woman’s Day was celebrated on 8th March, 2014. A symposium was organized on the Topic – “Status of Women in the Society” the students participated actively and realized that a feeling of respect for women should be inculcated in children since childhood.

Funding: The institution provides the financial support for all the above mentioned activities.

C)Sports Meet :

This year sports meet was organized on 12th and 13th December 2013 under the chairmanship of Shri Vijay Bhai Parmar. Students participated in various sports and games like- Lemon Race, 100 meter Race, Chair Race, Potato Race, Three Legged Race, Frog Race and Cricket Match. Many hidden talents came out during such competitions. Winners were awarded with the mementos and certificate of appreciation

Extension Activities:

All of us belong to society and being a responsible citizen this is our sincere duty to contribute towards society and to make students aware about their liabilities and individual differences exist in the society. Under extension activities this year following visits are done by the B.Ed. students and faculties:-

Visit to Indore Deaf Bilingual Academy run by Mook Badhir Sangathan situated at scheme no.71-B behind Ranjeet Hanuman Temple in Indore city, on 17th August 2013

Visit to Helen Keller Education Academy Indore, on 7th December 2013

Visit to Rajkiya Bal Sanrakshan Aashram Chavani Indore on 13th December 2013

Our College works with a strong value-based orientation of sensitizing the students to the needs of the under privileged. Students visited the Orphanage, Blind School and Dumb and Deaf School.

In June 2013 Uttarakhand met with a serious disaster as a result many people died and a number of people became homeless. Dignitaries of Shri Gujarati Samaj motivated to the staff and students, to contribute for the victims. A huge collection was done by all the staff and students and it was sent to the Prime Minister’s Relief fund.

PARTICIPATION IN INTER-COLLEGE COMPETITIONS

We encourage our students to participate in inter-college competitions. This year students were participated in intercollegiate Group Dance Competition in Shri RGP Gujarati Professional Institute and stood first. The participants were Bhawani Singh Chouhan, Amita Dubey, Sonika Kalawa, Anuja Bhandari, Archana Garg, Amita Pastor, Khushboo Purohit, Khushnuda Khan, shalini Modi and Pooja Sahu. They won a trophy along with a cash prize of Rs. 3000/-. Ms. Vaishali Sharma and Mr. Dinesh Anjana were participated in inter-college debate competition and inter-college essay writing competition and secured first position in Christian Eminent College, Indore.

LIBRARY

The college library has a collection of more than 5500 books and subscribes to 6 magazines and 18 journals and 6 newspapers including Employment News and Rozgar Samachar. An open access system along with internet and Wi-Fi facility is available in the library. This year college has provided the facility of N-LIST, by subscribing for it to the INFLIBNET, due to this facility students and teachers of the college can access to electronic resources subscribed by the UGC-INFONET Digital Library consortium as well as few selected e-resources that were found most appropriate for colleges including e-journals and e-books. These resources include more than 6000+ e-journals and 97,000 + e-books.

COLLEGE MAGAZINE

Every year the institution’s Annual Magazine is published towards the end of the academic year since the year 2005-06. Teacher trainees are motivated and encouraged to publish their written material in the annual magazine, The names of the Magazine published by the college since 2005-06 are Challenge (2005-06), Anubhuti(2006-07), Anugunj (2007-08), Sankalp (2009-10), Sankalp (2010-12), Pratibim (2012-14)

With the constructive contribution of our students and faculty members and unconditional support of our management, without which it could not be made possible.

Students Council:-

It was formed in the month of September 2013. Following were the nominated office bearers of the council for the session 2013-14.

Coordinator: Ms.Aparna Vyas

Student representatives were selected on the basis of their performances, assessment in talent show program and other criteria. All the staff members had observed the student-teachers’ performance and nominated them as a president and secretary.

Student council conducted the various activities as per the annual calendar including extension activities and awareness programmes. Many programmes were organized by the members of student council. Funding of the various activities undertaken by the students’ council was done by the college.

Alumni Meet

To maintain lifelong contact with our old students, this year the alumni association was formed. It was a matter of pride for us that many of our Alumni are working in various reputed Schools of Indore and it’s surrounding. The met recently on 3rd March 2014.

Parent Teacher Meet:

Parent Teacher meet was organized on 12th April 2014 to make effective interaction with the parent and to solve the difficulties of students at academic and personal level. Twenty two parents were present for the meet. At this occasion, oath to become best teachers was taken by the students. Shri. Kiran bhai Shah (E.B. Chairman) assured to the parent that all the sincere efforts will be taken by the college for the well being of students. Mr. Kirtibhai, (chairman of the B.Ed. college,) presided the meet and provided information regarding N-List facility to the parents. The PTA meeting was ended by vote of thanks to the chair.

With this goal in mind, we encourage our zealous teachers to keep learning and growing. They published their research papers in reputed journals and participated in many seminars and conferences to expand their vistas.
