Position Announcement

Position: Fund Development Team Lead

Hours: 300 hours of service (Approximately 10 hours per week, August—May)

Compensation: This is a volunteer position. Internship credit is available through the IU Career Center.

About the Position: As part of the Books & Beyond project, the Fund Development Team Lead will support the project in the following ways:

Fund Development Team Lead will work with other Books & Beyond team leaders to:

·  Attend biweekly leadership team meetings

·  Recruit and orient volunteers to Books & Beyond

·  Plan and host kickoff and end of semester celebration events

·  Work with team leads to develop and maintain a Rwandan information blog

·  Build the capacity of project volunteers to continue the project in future years

·  Update a yearly handbook to give direction to the next team lead

Fund Development Team Lead will also:

·  Recruit volunteers to be part of the Fund Development Team

·  Organize a Books & Beyond kickoff celebration for the weekend of the elementary school students’ visit to IU

·  Organize trainings for team members including grant writing, public speaking, and presentation training

·  Identify opportunities for presentations on campus and in the community to raise awareness about Books & Beyond

·  Facilitate weekly/biweekly meetings with Fund Development team members to discuss grants, fundraisers, and presentations and to delegate tasks

·  Supervise and support team members in grant writing and funding presentations

·  Work together with Treasurer to manage B&B budget

Fund Development Team Lead will work with team members to:

·  Organize and staff the Books & Beyond Kickoff and End of the Year Celebrations

·  Attend team meetings and skill building trainings related to fund development

·  Give presentations on campus and in the community to raise awareness and funds for Books & Beyond

·  Write grants to raise funds for the Books & Beyond project

·  Utilize corporate sponsors packets to actively pursue corporate sponsors

·  Utilize consulting team guide for fund development strategy

·  Try to secure smaller donations ($1 - $500) through Friends & Family Campaign and/or crowd funding websites such as GoFundMe
